I don't think anyone has ever played the wwf/wcw villain role better

Yes, Hollywood Hogan was the best Hulk Hogan.

The eat your vitamins Hogan wasn't bad when you consider the audience of a kids, and the era of being like one of those wholesome comic book super heroes. It might seem lame to an adult now, but to a kid that's heavily invested into the wrestling at the time, not knowing it's fake, the battle between good and evil. I guess it was good. Before my time though, I remember seeing flash back kind of videos of Hogan in the 90s, and it did seem kind of lame to me at the time, but like I said, it wasn't a bad gimmick.

I also remember Hogan in WCW, ending the Hollywood gimmick and going back to the 80s Hogan, at that time, super lame.

Yes. It’s funny cause the Hollywood gimmick was the best heel ever created, and the Hulk gimmick was the best face ever created.

That was a hell of a reinvention... But Hulkamania??

His complete creative control ruined the opportunity to put over other younger talent and create new stars. Then maybe they would've competed with WWE for a bit longer.

Good heel, but he always had to go over.

Hollywood Hogan was great for a while but it jumped the shark at Starrcade '97 when he refused to go over clean to Sting. The beginning of the end of WCW.

Hulkamania Hogan was John Cena before John Cena, basically.

I would say wcw and post wwc Hogan sure. Before that he was the absolute cash cow like never seen before, there was nobody like him, the crowd chose Hogan, no sold tickets, shows, ppv's like him.. turned wwe to what it is now (or before now) and it defintly was all about politics, cut throat business, only time i can think of a scenario was wm 9 where he didn't put someone over that didn't make sense. He put warrior over in 1990, turned out very bad, there was no one that could replace him from 84 to 92.

He appealed to kids, sold merchandise, and barely ever lost. So yeah, basically Cena.

I miss those days of wrestling where you can get away with spray painting n*gger on the side of the TV truck. The Monday Night Wars were epic. WCW had to find creative ways to draw viewers in and beat Vince McMahon for 80 plus weeks.

Hogan was my favorite until Warrior came along. Pretty much 1a and 1b. Also a big Beefcake fan since he and Hogan were friends. In hindsight the hair cutting and fishnet was pretty fruity.

Also in hindsight, I was happy Hogan and Warrior would go on to team but in reality it only happened because Warrior was becoming the face of WWF and Hogan didn't want to compete for the baby face popularity. By teaming with Warrior, Warrior had to share the crowd with Hogan as a partner instead of getting the stage for himself like Hogan had. That's just wrestling politics. I haven't watched wrestling in a long time but the shoots on YouTube from wrestlers as to what was going on behind the scenes are still really interesting and entertaining.

Hollywood by far.. 2 (wcw/wwe) shows doing 6.0 ratings... Wwe averaged this year is 1.8 million ..Wrestling has lost atleast 70% of its watching fanbase if that’s true ,even if you add up wwe/nxt/aew/tna/roh

How much did Hollywood Hogan matter in pro wrestling though? When compared to the legendary original main Hulk Hogan I mean

Hollywood was so easy to hate. Was great at promos and had this aura even tho the in ring performance was not that great. He didn't need it. Thats why Goldberg became the man of the company. Right after beating Hogan

Nitro and Raw. That's not at all to suggest Stone Cold, McMahon, DX, Rock era was anything less than spectacular it's just that WCW was that epic for a time being. I wonder what kind of affect it had on NFL Monday Night ratings

Here's a good video to watch as to why wrestling completely sucks nowadays and how no one is watching.

Yeah the Attitude era was the best thing that happened to wrestling. It forced a bland WCW to become edgy, and WCW ran with it, pretty much making HEELS the face of wrestling as they did with the nWo.

Faces turning heel combined with edgy and creative writing was the best thing to happen to wrestling. But of course, all good things must come to an end. WCW's mistakes and Vince buying them out was the final nail in the coffin.
