View Full Version : The meltdowns if LeBron gets to go through the West without facing Kawhi or Harden

Don't think it will happen, but if the Rockets and Clippers were to lose in R1, that would mean that LeBron has a path to the finals without facing his three biggest Western rivals for BITW (Steph being the third).

Would be funny to watch them all trying to write it off as another asterisk ring.

this shit happens more often than people think. a team gets upset and leads to an easier road for a finals teams

Well, it clearly is an asterisk, no matter who wins the championship. There's no traveling, no HCA & teams had 4+ months off and don't have their chemistry/defense at a level they did prior to the season being suspended. If this isn't an asterisk, what is?

so much burden to carry with kobe's tragedy, i'm surprised the lakers have overcome it thus far

Most definitely the hardest road. The chip is huge.

being salty about people who've won championships in the past is the best thing you can come up with as comedic materials?

I'll go ahead and put an asterisk to just what your life is worth

You just made a perfect case for it not to be an asterisk, well done. Everyone had to deal with the same circumstances, environment, problems. But it's nice to see the damage control in full throttle, despite us only being 4 games deep into the playoffs.

yeah he pretty much defined it 'a level playing field'

which by definition is the opposite of an asterisk :oldlol:

if waging war on the Switz or Caymans island or whatever areas the U.S. didn't used to have jurisdiction over the oversea funds means damage control

it's weird about what my d*ck is thrusting over, but it sure doesn't look like a *****

Are you stupid or something? The league got suspended 60+ games in, vets who might have been fatigued for the Playoffs had 4 months of rest, players who would have been potentially out for the season with injuries returned for the bubble... How is it damage control? I'm not saying that this is about Lebron, any team can win it and my opinion's the same, doesn't mean the title's meaningless. Go look up what "asterisk" means in the dictionary before you accuse me of "damage control". The 2020 season will have an * at the end of it because of these special circumstances...

The circumstances are exactly the same for everyone, no asterisks here. No home court advantage, no weird flying schedules, little to no fatigue. If anything, you just made a case for this being the truest title of all time, well done. Unless 37 ACL's say snap in the coming weeks and months, there's almost no significant injuries. It's everyone at their best and their most rested. The team that wins this year is legitimately the best team. No if's, and's or maybe's.

Again, go look up "asterisk" in the dictionary before you reply to me. Thanks.

Yup. Not only that, the teams that were hurt by the bubble are the best teams because they lost the HCA they worked for, with the Lakers and Bucks at the top of the list. The bubble gave underdogs the best possible shot.

If the scenario in the OP happens, that is on the Clippers and Rockets. If you can't get out the first round you weren't a serious contender anyway--you were a pretender.

LeBron is very likely going to have to face both Harden and Kawhi if he wants to get out of the West. It's a damn near lock.

Sobbed yourself to sleep after last nights game eh?

Yo the Jazz are no joke.

Gobert is a serious deterrent to the Lakers rim running style. Though I do doubt the league would ever allow a boring ass team like the Jazz to make the Finals. Can you imagine the difference in ratings between a Lakers - Celtics NBA Finals vs a Bucks - Jazz? There's no way in hell they'd ever allow that.

I never said that. Also I'm a huge Lebron fan. And as a Lebron fan I distinctly remember him winning a series down 3-1. He could always lose that way too. Legends like Kobe, Durant, Curry (obviously) have lost like that.

They let the ratings killing Spurs make the Finals 6 times

The league literally made rules changes after the 2005 Finals between Pistons and Spurs to open up offenses and draw better ratings. The 2007 NBA Finals were the least watched NBA Finals of all time according to google. Were in a big money era right now and the ratings are already in the toilet. Silver is going to make sure the championship bout is as hype as it can possibly be.
