View Full Version : If anyone besides LeBron wins this title, it's an asterisk. If he wins, it counts.

That's just how it is.

the nba playoffs are quite volatile, so many ups and downs

That would be a change. Most people I've heard have tried to downplay it to discredit Lebron.

In reality whoever wins the title will be a deserving champion. Yes there are injuries, but there are injuries every year. It is actually more impressive this year since nobody has homecourt as an advantage.

It's an asterisk no matter what.

Nah, only if LeBron loses. Didn't you see the thread title?

absolutely. there's even a flowchart:

are you a top-2 NBA player of all-time (legoat)? --> no asterisk

are you the GOAT NBA franchise (the raptors) --> no asterisk

anyone else is an asterisk .

Will there be an asterisk if the Lakers win and AD receives FMVP?

no that would be excellent. AD is top-5 in the league arguable 1 or 2. it would also mean he's shit on the clippers in the previous round.

LeAtlas deserves to be carried to at least one ring in his career- old man james was already the best player in the finals 7 years in a row (2012-2018). thats insane.

No that makes it less impressive. Less distractions. No travel. No crowds, less pressure. It’s almost an entirely different thing.

It’s like a pick up game with actual NBA jerseys and stupid liberal Black Lives Matter agenda thrown on.

Plus it’s so segregated from the actual season, it’s like an entirely separate thing. There’s no attrition or durability issues at play given there was a 4 to 5 months gap between the actual season until now. All momentum and chemistry gone.

The seeding structure is different. No road games. For the vast majority that you could tell nobody was taking it seriously and nobody was even playing defense.

Sammy D/Coach shook. :lol

The Lakers may be the only #1 or #2 seed to make the conference finals. Not having HCA likely cost the Raptors and may cost the Clippers. In close games in close series HCA can make the difference. The level playing field has increased the odds for lower seeds. The Lakers are the only #1/#2 seed playing like one to date.

That's just how it is.

Whether some people assign it an asterisk or not doesn't matter.

It should be an asterisk to me for any team that wins it. But years from now it will blend into the records and people most likely will use those numbers with hardly any context
