What have i woken up to? Wtf is this? Didn't people see the footage of that pedophile getting tasered first, cops tried to keep him on the floor? Who grabs something out of the car while cops are pointing their guns at you because you're fighting back? Silly crazy Americans. Disgusting how we let these young fatherless spoiled black men try to ruin everything.

I'm still in shock. Ernie johnson race baiting, kenny smith walking away like a retard. Rich succesful sjw's really telling lower income kids that they're living in a racist country, watch out for white people, cops are bad and are destroying black communities. Gross man. Boycotting the nba, that helped too many black men out of their violent neighbourhoods and turning them into famous rich men who can take care of generations now. No 'thank you nba', they already earned their millions years ago. Spoiled and corrupt.

It's bigger than this one incident. This shit's been going on for 400 years. I don't like the season being potentially cancelled either, but I wouldn't put the blame on Lebron. This is a powerful PR move by the players, let's see if they'll actually follow through with boycotting the season or if it's just a few games before they realize how much they're hurting their own pockets.

What shit has been going on for 400 years? Because 90% of what you guys have been screaming and crying about has been proven to be cops just doing their jobs in general. Everyone knows cops killed only 30 people/criminals past year compared to 8000 black on black.

Chickens coming home to roost. The NBA has empowered a bunch of attention seeking babies. Social justice warriors need a cause. If they can't find one, they'll make one up. Everyone wants to be a 1960's Civil Rights hero so they need to make us think America is still in the 1960's.

There is a growing section of America that is run by emotion and a narcissistic desire for attention. The numbers for their "cause" don't back up the narrative.

They are athletes. How many of you thought highly of the academic prowess of the high school basketball team? They're just grown now. There are some exceptions but for the most part athletes spend an inordinate amount of time honing their craft not studying the effects of Marxism and Socialism or understanding the detriment of the mob mentality.

False blacks are 3 x more likely to be shot be cops than whites. That is reality, if you don't believe the official statistics use common sense. Why are there shootings on video tape every couple of months of Blacks, but no footage of unarmed whites getting shot every couple of months?

Lebron is everything wrong with society? The guy is one of the most charitable athletes in pro sports. You bitch about fatherless kids yet hate on a guy who has been with the same woman since high school and is very involved in his children's lives. A guy who despite being under a microscope his whole career, the worst people said about him was he switched teams (the horror) and did a tv special which gave millions to charity.

The weird thing is people who endlessly support a sleazy reality star who had to pay 25 million in education fraud for running a scam "university" hate on a guy who has literally spent millions to send kids to school.

Stop whining and complaining about the NBA and Go watch Waterpolo, Lacrosse, Rowing or Curling if you unhappy with the sport. You are trying to deceive people presented a distorted version of history but people aren't falling for your Tom Foolery. America was founded on protest that was what the Declaration of Independence of 1776 was all about, but you don't want people to know that you just want people to wave flags and watch fireworks on the 4th of July.

Declaration of Independence.
"In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends."

Lebron is not about true social change. If he really wants to promote equality, he should cancel his $40 million endorsements from Nike. They and other shoe companies use workers in Guatemala working in horrid conditions for $0.20 per hour or less. Let's see Lebron and other pro athletes take a stand against this and I will respect them more. This decision will cost them a lot of money though. These cats don't actually do anything that undercuts their own money prospects.

I may be ignorant but I also don't see what postponing or even cancelling these games will do. Raise awareness? Ok. People know this is serious. At least reasonable people do. The unreasonable ones don't care and won't care regardless. And players earning less $ than these superstars are really the ones who lose if this gets cancelled. Lebron the billionaire doesn't give a shit.

Also do they realize that this NBA bubble has kept many otherwise depressed people entertained during this COVID shutdown? Ironically them not playing could lead to more crime, overdoses, suicides etc.

The video doesn't support your narrative, you are LYING. The actual video of the incident shows the man opening his car door and immediately being shot 7 times in the back. If what you say is true why was a 17 year old white male able to shoot 3 people killing two with a high powered rifle and then walk right by police with the murder weapon in hand while people are screaming for the cops to detain him?

The funny thing is I bet part of Lebron's motive in escalating the situation based on yesterday's meeting is due to him now wanting to look like he's leading the charge after having absolutely no part in the Bucks initial boycott. He had no problem playing yesterday until the Bucks initiated the boycott. I bet he's pissed that the Bucks took away what I'm sure the media was going to deem his "Ali" moment.

Just IMO the issue isn't that cops are racist pricks. Although very few of them are, a lot of them are just sadists. People who choose to become cops, especially in high crime areas, are usually either following the family tradition, sadistic/cruel, or engaging in criminal activity themselves. Plenty of white people get killed by cops as well.

The real underlying problem behind blacks being killed by cops isn't racism. It's the fact that blacks in America are lower than other races on the socioeconomic scale. More black youths grow up without dads, grow up in poverty, grow up without opportunity to get post-secondary education, grow in underdeveloped areas with no jobs etc. This makes them far more likely to engage in crime and thus far more likely to get shot either by other thugs or you guessed it... by cops. Society can do a lot to change this but so can the black community IMO. They need to stop following leaders like Lebron who propagate victim mentality and follow black leaders that propagate strength. These modern day athletes pale in comparison to real Civil Rights leaders like MLK who even as a white man I admire greatly and find his words inspiring. I have a few black and minority friends and they are the ones who always say this as well. A lot of minorities that aren't black here in Canada also feel offended by BLM because it marginalizes their struggles as well. Asians, latinos, and even white people experience racism as well. We all want to end racism but the way Lebron is doing it, the way the media is doing it... It's not going to do anything. People need to feel loved to feel strong. We don't need division.

As a non-black minority in Canada, this is something I agree strongly with. Well said.

The only people here (in the toronto area) supporting BLM and who want to defund police are "privileged" white girls. Went to a liberal arts program and now has a starbucks degree. Grew up in a 3 car garage while daddy worked as a big shot director. Went through zero struggles, and now they need to participate in a movement so they feel like theyre accomplishing something.

TBH, this sounds like most of the radical leftists in USA too.

White men loved and admired MLK so much they beat him, jailed him and assassinated him for preaching you should people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. The FBI called MLK the most dangerous man in America pubic enemy #1 and actively wire tapped him, published false media stories and propaganda to undermine him and his organization. Now that MLK is dead and gone, those who opposed his principles tout his words to distract the ignorant.
Do you think it's just a coincidence, that a higher percentage of blacks grow up in poverty?
In America the primary source of generational wealth is home ownership. For most Americans real-estate values traditional increase over time accruing equity allowing families climb the economic ladder.
Do you know what race of people were shut out of this wealth building engine through Federal and State laws preventing Blacks from owning desirable real-estate which suppressed their real estate values?
You may say that happened a long time ago, but that is not true. red line decimation was addressed in 1964.
On top of that the government gave millions of acres of land to settlers for free using the Homestead Act but denied blacks access to land. If you understand what was really going on you wouldn't white wash what is the root cause of the problems and it's not Lebron James.

I'm not saying Lebron is the cause of the problems. I'm saying he's not the solution.

I'm saying that socioeconomic issues are behind virtually all the problems plaguing black people in America (and Canada although here it's much better). Recent immigrants from the Middle East, China etc. who are also minorities quickly move higher up the ladder but black people don't. I don't know about the US but here in Toronto, most immigrants get mortgages and buy houses within 10 years of coming to this country. And most of them started from the absolute bottom, coming to Canada with $200 in their pocket and a dream. One of my best friends is a refugee from Afghanistan who came to Canada as a 12 year old and we went to high school together. Now he's an HVAC engineer.

I think the problem is that black people grow up in bad neighbourhoods that are hard to get out of and many leaders in their community are toxic... like Lebron. They don't need people to tell them they are victims. They need people to empower them to work hard, save money to move to better neighbourhoods, send their kids to college... Lebron should be out there telling kids not to do drugs, to do their homework and study hard not encourage them to protest. Young people don't even understand peaceful protest and lose their heads. That's why we're getting senseless violence where teenagers shoot or beat other teenagers.

What the FBI said about MLK. That was a different time. People shouldn't keep bringing up the past. These days most normal people consider MLK to be someone who brought people closer together and he's a hero to many people of all races today.

America is a country of immigrants and most racial groups who migrated to America faced adversity and prejudice but it paled in comparison to the circumstance they were fleeing. Other immigrants were subjected to laws explicitly designed to prevent them from obtaining the American dream. I wonder if you immigrant friends would have left their country if they knew they would be denied rights, terrorized by the KKK , lynched and killed by people who felt they were not human. A lot of progress has been made but more is required and change is hard and uncomfortable. I appreciate hearing your honest opinions on the subject I think that civil dialog builds bridges and promotes unity instead of promoting it's us against them.

Amen to that last part brother!

Denying rights, KKK and all that is part of the past though. Immigrants today are mostly treated well and have plenty of opportunities to succeed. As an immigrant myself, I can attest to that. People have to look to the future. If you go a few hundred years back as opposed to one hundred and sixty years (pre-Civil War), all human races were getting enslaved after wars. That doesn't diminish anyone's suffering but the point is that people have to pick themselves up and have hope. Victim's mentality only makes people more miserable and stirs up hate.

All I know is that; the Jordans, the Kobes, the Magic, the Bird of the basketball world would still play given the opportunity in their prime if it was a playoff game/series. Good or bad, right or wrong, those men’s competitiveness goes beyond their opinion.

Identifying and standing against racial inequality that still exist is not not having a victim mentality it's holding this country accountable to the principles it was created on. Jewish people are not accused of having a victim's mentality when they call out anti-semitism, why should blacks who demand equal treatment by law enforcement be perceived differently.
