I think some democrat politicians might finally be starting to realize that the riots/looting they have been allowing for ~3 months and the draconian and unamerican covid lockdowns they have been enforcing for ~6 months are hurting their chances of re-election.
Today in Portland, our useless cuck of a mayor Ted Wheeler gave a statement saying that he "has not been focusing enough on the two most important issues facing Portland - ending the nightly violence and the city's economic recovery". Judging from what I have seen on the livestreams tonight, it looks like in Portland the police response to the protests has been much more swift and decisive tonight than at any other night in the past ~90 days.
Perhaps Ted saw what Don Lemon (the second dumbest pundit on CNN after Fredo the covid faker) said about the protests last night
https://thehill.com/homenews/media/513742-cnns-lemon-warns-of-democratic-blind-spot-on-riots-it-shows-up-in-the-polling
“It’s showing up in the polling. It’s showing up in focus groups. It is the only thing right now that is sticking,” Lemon said ahead of "CNN Tonight" on Tuesday. “The riots and the protests have become indistinguishable."
“I think this is a blind spot for Democrats. I think Democrats are ignoring this problem or hoping that it will go away, and it’s not going to go away,” he added before arguing the violence needs to be addressed by Biden before the election.
“The problem is not going to be fixed by [Election Day],” said Lemon. “But what they can do, and I think maybe Joe Biden may be afraid to do it … he’s got to address it. He’s got to come out and talk about it.”
“And they’re rioters, not protesters. They’re criminals,” he added.
If a partisan dumbass like Don Lemon is able to see the writing on the wall, I imagine the party of dumbasses he represents cant be too far behind him.

It will be interesting to see what narrative the dems pivot toward next... if I had to guess I would say they go back to blaming all of our problems (including the riots/looting they facilitated or endorsed, and the covid lockdowns they created and enforced) on vlad and the russians

I just can’t fathom that world...
I think they’re trying to lose... at least the presidency. Surely, right?

TBH I have been wondering the same thing lately.
The modern democrat party has been structured with specific purpose of being enormous losers. For the most part, politics in america is just a theatre production..... until very recently, the oligarchs and corporate interests that controlled both halves of our political system believed that the best structure for them was one with weak spineless democrats who were unable/unwilling to even attempt to pass anything resembling a progressive policy, and strong republicans who could easily steamroll the spineless dems in order to pass their pro-oligarch pro-corporate legislation. The democrats were basically the Washington Generals to the republicans Harlem Globetrotters, their purpose was to pretend like the game wasnt pre-decided and rigged while getting dunked on and embarrassed, and for the most part both parties did a great job of maintaining the charade... until recently.
If the dems care about winning, why did they cheat the progressive half of their base (again) in order to promote a washed-up douche with a terrible record and obvious dementia? If the dems care about winning, why did they select a running mate for Biden that is an unpopular ex-prosecutor who crashed and burned during the dem primary (and dropped out months before the Iowa caucus). If the dems care about winning, why have they been supporting or ignoring the looting/riots/lawless in the streets, while also mandating that law abiding gym and salon owners should not be allowed to operate their business? If the dems care about winning, why have they dedicated the past ~3.5 years to daily unhinged meltdowns about disproven conspiracies like Trump/Russia collusion?

I would think that some elements within BLM and Antifa, and the left in general, want Trump to win. Having Trump in office is better for their Marxist revolution goals.
What good does having Biden in office do for them? He's a Democrat, but he's hardly a radical leftist. They would lose their pretext ("Orange Man Bad!") to run amuck and cause chaos.

they probably figure that at least with biden they'd get their social reform.

Those of us on the actual left believe Trump winning gets us closer to a progressive than Biden winning, yes. Progressives are about the bare minimum for me at this point though. Of course I’m a radical socialist :lol

how dumb does a person have to be in order to believe that the guy who wrote the 1994 crime bill (the primary reason for the mass incarceration of blacks we see today), in addition to other progressive legislation like the ****ing patriot act, has any interest in giving the people the social/economic reforms they desire?

One could easily argue they have a better chance at criminal justice reform with Trump (he signed the first step act).

No doubt. In some ways I hope that Biden gets elected... because I kinda think its the only way that a Biden presidency is the only way that anti-trump protesters will ever stop trying to burn down buildings in this country
That said, he is a TERRIBLE candidate. How can anyone pick a candidate who is incapable of completeing a coherent sentence? Who would vote for a guy who doesnt even know where he is half the time? The longer Biden is allowed to stay at the head of the party, the more and more of a joke he will become.

You think Antifa likes Biden? :lol
Obama utilized excessive force against protestors as well, Biden isn’t going to change shit. With Trump, you at least get the chance he’ll do something populist on a whim. He hasn’t really yet, at least not on any big legislation, but Biden doing anything remotely populist absolutely isn’t happening.

No kidding, and the level of force used by Obamas police as they brutalized the native americans at standing rock makes the Portland protest (riot) responses look like a boy scouts event in comparison. If anything, Trump has actually been less violent against protesters than Obama was... he could have sent feds and national guard into a lot of states in the name of ending riots and restoring order, but instead of forcing himself into any of the conflicts, he has been waiting on the sidelines until the dem govs/mayors finally realize that they need his help if they dont want to get voted out this november.

All things considered its not really hard at all... while there is an enormous number of idiots out here, this region also contains many of the most rational and well-rounded individuals I have ever met.
The only aspect of PNW socialization that Ive had difficulty with lately is when I am the 1 person in a group of ~6 that is suffering from TDS, and I have to sit there and indulge the paranoid delusions of privileged white folks who think that Russia or some other boogeyman is trying to undermine their brave fight for black lives in the whitest city in america.

There's no way that they didn't know 12 months ago that the guy was bordering on full blow dementia. There's no way they didn't know about his racist background. There's no way they didn't know that he didn't stand for anything except himself. They could have picked a better, more coherent establishment candidate. They are out there.
0% chance the machine didn't know.
If you're telling me they all missed it, then I have no hope for Washington. But I don't for a second believe that everyone missed it.
Further, Khamala? Really? Biden had multiple female minority candidates that were far more likeable and would have done a better job boosting his campaign.
Something is amiss here. I don't know what it is, but none of it makes sense.

I do often wonder if the political decision makers behind the scenes attempt to steer the country toward republican or democrat in a given cycle, by purposely promoting banal opposition candidates to the forefront.
The primaries are almost entirely about exposure, particularly before the digital age. You could never ever get a bunch of people voting for a Rand Paul or an Andrew Yang bc the media simply wont give them coverage. It would be absolutely impossible to realistically run for President without being selected as a candidate by the corporate media.
So yeah, depending on what the agenda is, sometimes they want a Republican to push certain things thru and sometimes they want a Democrat. They want stability but it still has to shift periodically. After 12 years of Republican control, a super charismatic guy like Bill Clinton emerged. Coincidence? Maybe. And the best Republicans could do in 96 was Bob Dole?? Seems hard to believe. Rather they just wanted to stay the course with a Dem in charge for 8 years. Then Dubya 8 years, then Barry 8 years. Sure incumbents have a natural advantage, but neither party has been electing particularly strong opponents for Presidents running for second terms.
It does sometimes seem calculated.

It’s a smart strategy to switch it up. If they did the same bullshit with one party for a 40 year stretch people would catch on, wonder how this party wins every time, want immediate change. Then when you finally change parties and they get the same shit after waiting 40 years they will realize its a scam. This way they can pass it off back and forth and fake some sort of competition and parity. Fake a never ending struggle between two parties, each one identifying themselves as good vs evil. Go one step forward two steps back slowly while trading back and forth. Then you get to where we are today.
Of course, that's undeniably true as to how it would play out but... I mean, if that really is the entirety of the strategy, they are REALLY banking on OMB being the prevailing sentiment at the vote. I dunno, man. It's all just weird.
