Even though Hollywood continues to progressively suck, going to the movies is one of my favorite activities and it’s been a drag to not be able to go. Also is nobody making movies or are they just building up a cache to release later?

Damn... can’t wait for them to come back, if they ever do...

Yeah I was just saying the other day. We have gyms opening up but no sign of theaters opening here in nyc :( I have the regal unlimited, I am a movie fiend.

Yep it's been a while. Funny with all this technology available we're being restricted to less freedoms than ever

Yeah I used to really enjoy going to the movies.

Well, they're still releasing the movies. Like The new Bill and Ted just came out and you can pay to view it online. A lot of releases are doing this for the time being.

Same.

Though gyms are also still illegal in California since March.

Not really, I go maybe 3-4 times per year. Only movies rally worth going to are IMAX 3D movies with the glasses and big screens.

There hasn't been any releases anyway, after Tenet is anything slated for release??

Film studios are probably monitoring the situation before spending millions on marketing for their upcoming films.

I think that, and as well as them monitoring the situation on how to display society and surroundings in future films.

Like, for how long are people required to wear masks outside or on public transport, until they start having everyone wear masks in films in those situations. And do they first commit to that display and then turn back again when or if things go back to normal. I wonder what kind of scripts are being written right now.

You’re in Florida. Did they reverse the reopening? When I was in Panama City a couple months ago I was annoyed because we were leaving just as they were opening the theaters. They just let them open here this week. I saw New mutants last night. Not because I expected it to be good. I just wanted to go.

I miss the sticky floor and the occasional rat or two crawling up my leg.

No, I moved up North. I have no idea what Florida is doing. The year round humidity and year round UV index just got to be too much.

NY must be a shithole city. That's absolutely disgusting.

Not me. Haven't been there much even before the pandemic. How you gonna pay $10 to Epstein's crew for a movie when you can watch youtube or Netflix in the comfort of your home?

I thought I would miss it more than I do. I used to go all the time but now that it's not available I don't care too much.

Some things just can’t be experienced the same at home. Movies like the last avengers were made to be seen with 200 other people the first time.

I think I’d rather watch most quiet dialogue driven movies at home though.

Marvel is garbage though.

I don't bother going to the movies more than once every two years. I'd much rather download and watch classic and foreign films crafted artfully.

I bet bladefd and/or theman would be willing to crawl up your leg during a movie... just dump a can of pop on the floor and you will basically be able to simulate the entire movie theatre experience

Pretty much. Im not real big on the ‘action blockbusters’ personally so Ive been to a movie theater like twice in the last five years. And that was just because I was visiting family on a holiday and thats what they wanted to do.

Otherwise Im not spending 2 hours in an uncomfortable chair watching Dwayne The Rock Johnson jump out of a helicopter and then transform into a helicopter before a reaching a hidden lair where he does a fight scene with a bad guy trying to blow up the planet.

I saw a movie like that once when I was 10 and decided that was pretty much all I needed to have my lifetime fill of it.

If I want to make Harvey Weinstein 15 bucks richer I’ll just mail him a check.

A friend of mine is 6-7 months pregnant and her husband set up a movie theater in their house, complete with full menu and printed off signage to make it seem as realistic as possible. Could be worth trying if you've got a few spare minutes or an hour.

I put a 75'' TCL in my bedroom... I don't miss it one bit. I've been watching SVU on prime and netflix's in the dark before bed.

My local movie theater is selling popcorn curbside... pretty cool idea to help stay afloat in these times.

I got an 84" projector screen on my wall in my room... it's nice but the sound is lacking. I tried my projector to 120" on my living room wall when my friend came over. Size DEFINITELY matters, and I set up a nice bluetooth speaker. Not surround sound but loud enough. I bought the microwaveable popcorn but what I miss most is the fountain soda and the cheesy pretzel bites. I don't eat healthy at all while watching movies but it's an escape after all.

I digress, size matters. I can't go back to the 37" tv anymore. I don't think I could watch anything on something smaller than 60" anymore.

Yeah I have to agree. My living room TV is a 55'' but has a nice JBL sound system but I still enjoy my bedroom 75. All this QLED and OLED stuff might be unreal but 4k for me is good enough at its current pricepoint.

Yeah. It was something I had started doing a lot. I just like the experience...especially when they started having reclining seats and booze. (though I'd bring most of it in before hand anyway because those prices lol. I liked getting a cocktail or a beer to go with my shooters. )

Not really, especially since I started watching alot of movies inside my Oculus VR headset using 'Bigscreen' which gives you a simulated movie theatre experience. Not a perfect 1:1 with the real thing but a decent compromise under current conditions. I certainly dont miss cellphones lights, people talking during quiet scenes and rustling chip bags/drink slurping/ popcorn munching sound effects. That part of the 'experience' I can very much do without.

I mainly went to the theatre for those 'event' movies like Star Wars or Marvel where the crowd energy plays a big part. Like someone said above you can't watch a movie like Avengers Infinity War or Endgame without the hype of all the other geeks around you. For your typical comedy or drama I'll wait till that shit hits streaming.

Going to the movies with your friends is always fun, even if the movie is shit. Last time I went was back in March, so yes I do miss going
