Who is THE guy to dunk on in today’s nba? Do we have one?

When I was a kid the guys it seemed people wanted were Mark Eaton, Tree Rollins, and later Manute Bol. Everyone had Manute on the list. Not only for his height he was just the hardest to get a shot of any kind over. He averaged 7 blocks per 36 more than once. Jordan got him good. And Pippen. Nique I believe. This is from a time when the shot blockers wouldn’t back down so even a goat type might be utterly destroyed 3 times a year but at least a little dunked on every week because people had it out for them.

After the 80s it was Shawn Bradley, Mutombo, and Ewing. Shawn and Mutombo for obvious reasons but everyone had to get Ewing too and as one of those Georgetown centers he took everyone on. Don’t m ow what Coach Thompson was telling those guys but everyone he coached tried to stop every drive every time. Mutombo, Zo, Ewing....later Hibbert. I’m not sure he was still there with Julius Page hit Rueben Boumje Boumje(or whatever it was) with the off hand choke while taking his soul but if not...I’m sure Rueben saw him in the shadows telling him not to back down.

In the 2000s it was Yao mostly though Jermaine O’Neal and Duncan all got treated harshly at times.


I don’t know who the target is now. Gobert I suppose. Boban doesn’t really play enough. It’s gotta be Gobert right?

Def Rudy. He is one of the few that will go up to try to block instead of getting out of the way (for the most part), so I appreciate that about him.

Yea I think we would all agree that being the “I gotta get him” guy is a positive thing because you can only be that guy by playing fearless defense. Nobody is hunting for guys who run.
