News networks are flat out abusing the first amendment and are undermining our country in the process. Wether it is out of purely seeking profits(outrage sells!)or serving some sort of other agenda is irrelevant as the results are the same. The irresponsible and borderline intellectually dishonest reporting is destroying our country and I don’t think there is anything that can be done about it.

A big problem is people are for the large part not interested in seeking out fair news. They like to hear either their echo chamber(fox or cnn) or their counterpart’s misdoings(fox or cnn) and be subsequently outraged about it. But most of the time people don’t really know what they want, certainly not what’s best for them. We need more honest and fair news. News with the objective to bring light to situations for the millions of people across our country and the world. Not news with the objective to misconstrue or deceive for other agendas.

If you started an independent news form of some sort in this spirit...it probably wouldn’t go anywhere. No one would care. They arnt really interested in that. They would rather listen to ****ed up news that they know will make them outraged, and read it anyways. :lol

They could have the government audit news agencies and hand out stiff penalties for repeat infractions. But besides the obvious ones of false data, quotes, and other things...it would be next to impossible. How do you govern the use of half truths while painting only one side of the story in a sympathetic light while completely glaring over major issues on the other side? It’s all so semantic it seems to be impossible. And of course with government in charge of things it will be slow, ineffectual, and eventually turn out to be wildly corrupt. Things will inevitably turn into the USSR and now we are stuck at the other end of the spectrum.

We have more choices than ever, but all of those choices are more narrative driven and overall dishonest than ever before in history... at least since the TV was invented, anyhow. There aren't any non emotional, objective based news sources. They're all gone.

They report factually accurate things, because they have to, but the overall narrative that they tell and drum up for people is typically false.

I'm telling you... 50 people in the U.S. die to lightning strikes each year and HUNDREDS more get hit by lighining. If the national news media decided to report it every time, the majority of the country would be terrified to go outside with a cloud in the sky. Scared out of their ****ing socks absolutely petrified.

I don't think it's some grand conspiracy in terms of trying to subversively destroy the country although that is certainly possible. I think it is money driven. Just think, why should a 24/7 news cycle even exist? There aren't that many things that happen that are actually news. And thus, they 'create' the news because they have to. And then it goes from there with everyone competing for the viewers.

ALL of the stations are doing it. Even the printed sources. ALL OF THEM!!! EVERYONE!

I agree. It’s still wildly dishonest on the news’ part. They are well aware of what they are doing. It’s like a manufacturing company dumping toxic waste into the environment. They are getting their profits and couldn’t care less of the consequences.

To those saying it’s the everyday people’s fault...Yes and no. It’s hard to blame them a lot of these people are just hopeless. The networks and players calling the shots do well know better and are exploiting it anyways...their gain at our loss. The low iqs are somewhat innocent because they are so low iq they just don’t know what’s going on. The high iqs know what’s going on exactly and don’t care. It’s these guys who are the problem.
