So they had 2 first rounders that year and missed out on all 10 all stars with the picks being 17 and 18.

Heat also offered Riley part ownership that he later had to sell when rules changed. The Knicks had a tampering charge filed against the Heat but dropped it for the million and the pick.

Things have...not worked out for one of those squads.

Im sure that Houston game winner felt good for the front office but it all went to shit after that.

The Knicks had the Heat's number after that trade, beating them 3 straight seasons on Miami's homecourt in the decisive Game 5/7, the last two literally coming by one point each. Those Zo/Hardaway teams were chronic underachievers, they lost in the first round as the 2 & 1 seed b2b years, then got obliterated as the 3 seed in another first round defeat

The Heat won in 97' (granted after the Knicks' top players all got suspended :oldlol: ) but yeah after that the Knicks kept winning. A factor in that was Hardaway turned 30 in 97' and declined each year starting in 98'. By 00' Hardaway (then 33) was down to 13/3/7 in the RS and 8/2/5 in the PO.

Tbf though the Knicks were decimated by suspensions those final 2 games, their 4 top scorers all missed either Game 6 or 7. Though Zo did get suspended for Game 5 the following year

Actually had 18th and 19th picks, and we had the 21st pick in Jones, who played all of 31min his entire career, all the NEXT season after being traded to Boston and not featuring in any game for New York. McCarthy was also included in that trade. We got back Chris Mills, and I was happy with him. But what a waste. Big Z (as I can't remember how to spell his name) maybe could have been useful off the bench, until Pat was done, but we also missed out on Derek Fisher and Shannon Anderson (I really liked him), and someone else, I think.

10 all-stars plus Marcus Camby. John Wallace was supposed to be good, to be fair. Was a steal to still be available, and showed signs for a season but was then traded, did well, then disappeared.

So all three of our picks were gone before the next season.
