It's like they succumb to the pressure of the moment and become paralyzed with fear.

I thought professional players are trained to beat that.

They are still human. Everyone feels the pressure.

Its not just the pressure its the physicality also. Refs let alot more go so defenders can actually play defense.

Yet another facet lacking in the bubble. Seeing dudes take over in the clutch, amidst 20k raucous fans is something we're sorely missing right now. You simply cannot replicate that with a layout of LD screens.

It's what separates the Jordan's from the Maceo Bastons

This thread is obviously about Curry but I disagree with the premise a bit.

I dont think Curry shits the bed in crunch time primarily because of pressure.. I think its due to his playstyle being predicated on hitting wide open 3s in rythym/frontrunning. In a tightly contested late game situation he is rendered useless because he lacks the skills and physicality to be useful.

Lebron has all the skills and is the most clutch player of all time.

Some guys are just built differently. The mental side is important but gets overstated

Curry sucks because he's physically inept

I think it's because they aren't getting laid regularly , so their game is off.:oldlol:

īThis. Lot of people perform much worse when they are under pressure, fearful, etc. NBA players are no different, at the end of the day they are humans, not robots.

It's mainly because the refs call the game differently in those moments and it throws the players off.

I've seen guys like Curry, Harden, Paul all like that in big games. You can't really explain the feeling, its like they are drunk and blackout. Very odd but that's how some players are when handling pressure.

All players whose games are particularly influenced by refs. Which is why I said what I said.

Only Jordan's efficiency was unchanged in the clutch (50% on game-winners and down the stretch of tight games, last 5 within 5)

Everyone else shoots poorly (40% like lebron and Kobe), to horrible (10% like Curry and Doncic)

People deluding themselves as usual. I'll take Curry over the majority of these guys. Wins games coming back from double digits down multiple times. Wins so decisively it doesn't even come across as a crunch time win.

Jokic has pretty amazing clutch numbers which is impressive for a big. Somebody can check the stats but pretty sure he leads the league the past 2 seasons and is super efficient on game winners.

That's my problem with the Curry/Durant era, they were never really challenged. We don't know how they would do under pressure. They were always blowing out teams that were clearly inferior or they handcuffed teams (no Chris Paul 2018 WCF or Kawhi 2017 WCF).

What happened in 2016 when Curry and Durant were leading their teams vs comparable competition? They both became useless in the clutch.

Even after all the numerous times their opponents were spanked, we get such garbage takes. Harrison Barnes if he played ordinary had the opportunity to beat LeBron and Kyrie. I suppose that opportunity just came out of nowhere. Makes me question if Kawhi is really any good after listening to his fans.

The whole Clippers team right now. The get open shots after open shots but misses badly.
