California legislators passed a law Monday easing sex offender registry rules for those who commit sodomy or other sex acts with minors in order to end “discrimination against LGBTQ young people on the sex offender registry.”

The bill, which now heads to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk, would "exempt from mandatory registration under the act a person convicted of certain offenses involving minors if the person is not more than 10 years older than the minor and if that offense is the only one requiring the person to register,” according to the bill.

Adults less than 10 years older than the minor they are convicted of engaging in oral or **** sex with are not automatically added to the sex-offender registry. The decision whether or not to add them is left up to a judge under the new bill, referred to as SB145.

:facepalm

Cali is so far left already they have to come up with increasingly outrageous legislation to appease their lunatic population, and distract them from all the internal corruption.

But hey, thats what people get for living there. Thats everyones own choice to make.

I'm no fan of Cali, and tbh the act of male homosexuality sickens me. But I don't find this legislation that outrageous. Hear me out. Unless I'm reading this wrong, all this legislation does is bring in line homosexuality with heterosexuals in terms of punishment. As of right now ******l penetration of a minor less by an adult of less than 10 years does NOT automatically put the offender on the sex offender registry but it does for **** homosexual sex or lesbian oral ******l sex.

Like I said the act of male homosexuality disgusts me but what they do in their own homes is no business of mine, and they should be treated equally as the rest of us. Not to mention male homosexuals are positive contributors to society when you factor in education, IQs, reliance on government benefits and income. Lesbians are on the opposite end of that spectrum so I guess it equals out.

I have no problem with this legislation. It sounds fair and the right thing to do IMO.

I'm fine with equality, I don't think there needs to be different laws for different kinds of penetration. I did misread/misunderstand the last line of the original quotation.

The way I read it is that they're reducing the punishment for sodomizing a minor. So if you have a 14 year old child, a 23 year old now has more incentive to prey on him sexually. Which is still technically a real biproduct of the legislation.

But if that's just bringing it in line with other kinds of statutory rape laws... whatever. Like I said, it's their state. I moved away for a reason. People who choose to stay can deal with it however they see fit.

Right and if its a 17 year old with a 27 year old then the judge/jury might be persuaded not put the adult on the list if there were factors like the parents gave the adult their approval or whatever. A 13 and a 23 year old almost certainly would be recommend and put on the list by a DA/jury/judge.

They could have gone the other way as well making it mandatory for adults who v@ginally penetrate a minor 10 years younger to automatically be put on the sex offender list so it was in line with **** and oral sex. But they went the other route
