A Butler + Simmons + Embiid trio would've dominated the East for the next 5 years.

But Philly decided Tobias and Horford were better investments :lol

It was really the Harris trade that screwed them. How do you trade Shamet and 2 first rounders for a player you don't end up keeping. I agree with you, but they were ****ed the minute they made that trade.

Shamet?? I thought Covington was traded for Butler.

I'm talking about the Harris trade.

Once the Sixers gave up Shamet and 2 first rounders...how do you then let Harris go in free agency? I'm saying that...making that trade was what screwed them...because they were always going to pay (overpay) him...otherwise...why on earth would you make the trade?

That is what made the trade so bad. Harris is good, but not great...and he was up for a new contract that was going to make him overpaid.

Harris has great skill but his problem is he isn't an elite competitor. Horford too. They dont get angry when they're losing or counted out. Jimmy does.

Yep Jimmy is the alpha dog they needed. Even if they only had him and Embiid and Simmons. Not enough shooting but they would have made it work. Harris is not a dog, he was bad last year in the playoffs too. Like a poormans Melo bad.

From what I remember there was a way to keep both Butler and Harris. They'd be in luxury territory but still title favorites. It was Brown's coaching that made Jimmy leave and the obsession with Horford was the nail in the coffin.

From what I've read and heard the Sixers didn't really choose anything. If anything it was the Sixers choosing the coach over Butler since they didn't mesh well.

I feel bad for Sixer fans.. All that tanking and you got only one legit year of championship contention from it. Horford is already on a steep decline and is on the books for a while. Harris is who we thought he was.. a solid player but not a star. Trading Embiid and building a new roster might be the only move left.

Philly didnt choose anything dumbass. They offered him a contract, he chose the heat over brett brown...We signed Horford, after Jimmy let it be known to the front office he was not resigning to stay with the sixers.

Do you not understand how a soft cap works.

You always choose a superstar (still in prime) over a non superstar.

Then they should have fired Brown. They did a year later anyway. I've heard Butler didn't want to play with Simmons which is a tougher call.
