Might well be biggest chokejob of all time, losing vs 8th seed averaging 19.7 points per game on 38 % shooting.

You already stated in the OP what happened. Arby's right, you didn't revisit anything, you just wrote a one sentence write up that everybody already knew

Context.

Warriors had a bunch of good players return from injury right in the knick of time. And had Don Nelson as their coach, Dirk's rookie and beyond mentor and development specialist... his starter coach that knew him in and out. So they had the talent, and the expert "inside information" coach to pick him apart. That's on par with belichick taping opponents. The fact that Dirk could carry those scrubs to Finals and 60+ win teams isn't a knock on him... it's a plus. No great player from today or the past is winning with Jason Terry or Josh Howard as their best mate. That's pathetic by historical standards.

Guy must have been pretty good if 20/11/2 51% TS...111 ortg is an epic disaster of play for him while being the sole focus of the opposition.

Am I supposed to be impressed with those numbers? He shot 38%. He quit and choked hard

It was all coaching. Don Nelson knew that playing Dirk tight with fast players made it hard. They gave him no spacing and played very scrappy. The rest of the offense was always bad. It was so much isolasion and it really showed how bad of a offensive coach Avery Johnson was. He relied so much on isolation in the post with Dirk.

I don't care what you do with them. Dirk didn't play well and he deserves criticism...it also wasn't nearly as bad as people claim.

If you are the only threat on a team that the opposition cares about and you play poorly...and are still able to produce that...you are likely amazing at basketball.

Quit? Now I know you didn't watch that series. Go watch the end of game 5. Mavs were down like 9 or 10 points with 3 minutes to go iirc. Could have easily folded as the series was pretty much over. Dirk went off and scored like 12 points in the final minutes to keep the Mavs alive.
