I get his points and I agree with him but would his opinion change if Kobe was a direct matchup and he had to guard him the whole game?

It makes sense. Iverson was relentless attacking the basket, pushing the ball off turnovers, etc. When Kobe got hot, he would just start going to his spots, face up, and shoot. Frustrating as a defender for sure but a lot less taxing energy wise than chasing Allen up and down the court and around a bunch of screens.
