Girls who grew up in the 80s do...and gay men...there is an audience for this it's just not male NBA fans.

There is no 'Madonna' today...Cardi B or anyone else can't achieve that level of fame anymore, it's unattainable...Just like no male artist working today could ever achieve Michael Jackson fame....that's impossible. There weren't a bazillion entertainers in the 80s...there were a handful of mega-stars and the underground artists were extremely underground, they didn't have the internet to get discovered on.
