From a momentum perspective.... none of your teammates get to touch the ball. Guy with the ball is the only one to handle and shoot it. No potential for 3 point wave. No offensive rhythm is established. And on the flip side, the defense doesn't have to work at all. Just defend one guy far from the hoop for like 3 seconds.

It's a double whammy.

Call it the Westbrook special.

Yep. Westbrook's 17 at halftime is killing the team tonight.

The step back contested 3 with 20 seconds left when youre down 1? You see it 50 times a season now.

i mean... that is probably more ridiculous. for an end of the game situation. in the flow of things though... it could result in more momentum at least.

Or like on the break taking a contested three with no teammates underneath.

Westbrook is acting like he's MJ this game, except he doesn't have the midrange jumper.

Any shot early in the shotclock without trying to get a good look is retarded. Westbrook is the master of these.

Quick-hitter offense is good and can force a team to expend more energy and adjust

Late shot clock conversions also wear a defense out

Middle shot clock are the worst

Westbrook has never learned about developing the possession to find an open man or at least finding the high percentage shot. That speaks directly to low basketball IQ.

I like how he drives in, but his decision-making is net negative. That is not something you can workout in the gym like say working on your shot. Once his physical gifts begin to wear out from age, I shudder to think about his game.

You need the personel for a 7 seconds offense, reliable shooters an d slashers.

Any high % shot is a good shot no matter when into the shotclock.

How often did MJ dribble the ball down the court and shoot a 2 pt jumper early in the shot clock without any other teammate having touched the ball?

I'm going to guess it was an extremely rare event.

This. Also, pulling up from 3 in transition when you could just pass for a wide open layup/dunk, you can thank the Warriors/Steph for that one.

Any shot beyond half court.

It's not a good shot unless someone like MJ or KD is doing it.

The difference is a long fastbreak 3 can be back breaking. If you hit that it generates a ton of momentum, and demoralizes the opposition. Crowd goes nuts off those. Timeouts get called off those.

A long 2? Doesnt have anywhere near the same dagger effect in the flow of the game.
