Really excited for this one, it seems the stars have finally aligned for a good Dune movie. The trailer makes me want to re-read it now because its probably been a decade since I read it.

Jason Mamoa looks super weird without facial hair.

Exactly, the 80's film was just okay. The original novel is great
This might turn out to be the next Lord of the Rings

Looks spectacular!
I read the book several years ago but never finished it. Didn't enjoy the writing style.. The story seemed compelling though. The worms were especially cool, but I never learned what made them special - I stopped reading around the point that Paul joins the ranks of the planet people halfway through the book.

idk about this film or this story in general.... hasn't really captured my interest, I'll give the 80s movie a watch sometime but the feeling I get from watching the trailer makes me think of Chronicles of Riddick which was nothing special at all.

Either I'm getting old, or the young hero and heroine stereotype is just too overplayed nowadays.

Dune is a hard book to translate into film. It should be better than the 1984 version.

Meh. I'd rather just reread the novel. It' has been nearly 20 years now.

You guys liked Herbert's writing style? I thought it was very dry and not very enjoyable.. I liked the story, but the writing style was just a drag..

Instead of trying to do this is one film, this should be a series, a very high-level series of the type that we see today.
One of the problems with Dune is that the novel is simply too rich and intricate to adequately convey in the course of a 2- or 3-hour feature film. I simply don't believe this will work. I read the book. It is the best science fiction novel ever, in my opinion. No way will one film do it justice.

I thought the movie is 1/2 of the book and another sequel will be used to finish it presuming it doesn't bomb.

They look so dead and devoid of any charisma. The only guy that really stands out is Jason Momoa

You don’t have to be witty to not be dull. Anton Chigur was a sociopath and he is one of the most interesting villains in cinema.
The actors look bored out of their mind in this movie. I don’t see how you can defend bland acting

Triggered? :biggums:
Dude like I said, nothing more epic than a 'that's what she said' punchline as the fate of humanity is seconds from extinction
Jokes aside if you're critiquing acting based on 15 seconds of dialogue on a reveal trailer you've already made up your mind whether or not you'll enjoy the 180 minute film regardless how good/bad it is.

Yes, because that's what trailers are literally made to do, entice people to watch it by allowing a sneak preview. If a trailer is bad how do you expect people to be excited about it?
Again ignore how I pointed out that having "no personality" is really not an excuse for bland acting, but ok

>analyzed an entire films acting based on jump cuts from a trailer
Relax bro, I doubt this movie will drown out the 10 other MCU prequels we'll be showered in 2021. No doubt Ant Man 4 will be a huge splash

don't expect some Ridley Scott style of sci-fi action flick for this one, if that's what you prefer
it's from the director of Blade Runner 2049 & Arrival, moderately paced with visual story telling
