He’ll need longevity and a deep finals run for most but I can see it. Harden has that high variance style so he has more really shitty games but Malone drops off in the playoffs even harder.

The "finals" card is weak--Malone was in the opposite conference of the super team while Harden was in the same conference. If the Warriors were still the Philadelphia Warriors, Harden is in the finals in 15', 18', 19' (fun fact: he was in the finals in 12' too, there is video footage of it--he did it as a 3rd option but so did Manu who is being hyped as an "alpha" in another thread). The Warriors moving to San Francisco doesn't make Malone better. Harden hasn't played with a player like Stockton for his entire prime like Malone did.

Malone is better because he is the better two way player and played at an high level longer than anyone outside of KAJ and LeBron (albeit Malone's high level was lower than those guys').

Yeah they are similar in that they are both hall of fame MVPs who were incredible scorers, but could never get over the hump. Maybe the Beard will get over the hump and some point, but it doesn't look likely. His best chance was 2018.

I think what he means is like malone, harden has been a top player in the league, always in the playoffs going deep but will never win a championship. At least with malone, he has made it back to back to the finals which we havent seen harden do.
