How far back do you have to go to find a bigger conference finals matchup?

2016 GSW/OKC?
2008 LAL/SAS?
2002 LAL/SAC?
Or all the way back to Bulls/Pistons in 92?

None of these are obviously bigger IMO. This is really one of the great conference finals showdowns in recent memory.

hou/gs was pretty big. most had the warriors winning but as decently competitive.

Whoa guess I'm misreading the room.

The 2018 Rockets had nowhere near the cache of either of these squads imo

The cache? What cache?

They won 65 games, had a 70-win pace with Paul playing, won 2/3 games against GSW in the RS and were tailor made for them, and toar Minny and Utah in 5 apart.

That matchup was pure hype.

And fully delivered through 5 games.

Paul was shimmying on Curry.

2016 GSW/OKC imo.

HOU/GSW wasn't as anticipated like this upcoming matchup. KD had already joined GSW, and while they weren't 2017 level, nobody expected them to get beat either. How that series played out was a little different, but far as 'anticipation' goes, no. You could make that same argument for 2016 too. With Durant though it was more clear-cut.

The buildup for both LA teams is definitely felt.

Tie between 2018 GSW/HOU and 2016 GSW/OKC

A lot of hype and also both series delivered.

Too bad both hou and okc went short against gsw during those years. Those were pretty solid runs tho.

Kids here saying Rockets-Warriors 2018:roll:
Really, it is the most anticipated matchup in a long, long time. Maybe LAL/Kings of 2002 or BOS/LAL of 2008 comes close. Come on, these games are the reason we have been wathing games since october of 2019. Let the show begin.

It's unlikely but it would be hilarious if it doesn't happen after all the hype going back to October.

The problem with this potential match up is the Clippers are a D list franchise with no fans, not even in their own city. That limits what that match up can be.
