Nah, Cuomo did much for the homeless shelter situation in nyc, DiBlasio did a good job of weathering the storm from the initial uprisings.

when struggling americans need their government most in the midst of a health and economic crisis, congress has been an absolute failure. and why isn't trump pushing congressional leaders to get their act together? he could step up and be a hero here which would certainly help him come november, but derp.

If he agreed to the 2.4T headlines would say "Trump agrees to stimulus for votes" or "he doesnt care about the national debt"

Meanwhile people like yourself dont even consider how significant a 2.4T bailout is... it's more than canada's entire GDP... Democrats trying to bribe the american people by throwing money at them at the nations expense. Pathetic.

Atleast Trump has the balls to say NO even though this would cause more to vote against him than for him.

"We're willing to sit down with the Democrats and try to reach an agreement. Clearly, we're not going to spend 3.4 trillion or 2.4 trillion or 2.2 trillion, which are the various numbers that the Speaker has laid out as potential," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

He didn't say "no" though...he said he will pass a "major stimulus bill" once he is reelected...so if you want a big stimulus pay day, vote Trump

Also I made it clear that I don't know who to blame...

There will be a deal. It would be very damaging politically for Trump to not do one. Not sure what his motivation for this is though; perhaps to create a stock market dip for "whomever is interested" and then have it come back.

After briefly reading, looks like Dems blocked it because it was an inadequate $500b package instead of the proposed 2.2t proposal similar to the one in May.

The GOP proposal (https://www.newsweek.com/new-targeted-gop-stimulus-excludes-second-stimulus-check-offers-some-unemployment-relief-1530394) includes money for small-business loans under the Paycheck Protection Program, reopening schools, the U.S. Postal Service, coronavirus testing, $300 weekly enhanced unemployment benefits that last through December 27 and legal liability protections.
What it does not include are several Democratic demands, including a higher rate of boosted jobless benefits, another round of $1,200 checks (which the White House supported), more state and local funding, rental assistance and food security.

Also I made it clear that I don't know who to blame...

How exactly? The biggest proposed stimulus under the Republicans is well under 1Trillion. Whereas under the democrats one was proposed well over 3 trillion...

It's easy to give more later, it's not possible to take back what was given

Why dont the dems accept the 800B or whatever stimulus and later push for more if they really cared about what was going on?

The GOP has offered a $1.6T package

Yeah I don't disagree...I'm not taking sides on this issue, probably lots of blame to be thrown at Dems...I'd be good with the GOP offer

they've been at a stalemate with these numbers for months now...they should just meet in the middle ($1.9T) and be done with it IMO

Boom.

Send $1200 checks to everyone and make it about Dems not wanting to help Americans directly. Turn it into Dems want $2 trillion for themselves, while Trump wants to send $2 trillion directly to Americans.

Just start sending the checks and dare the Dems to sue him.

And $1200 checks to all Americans over 18 would be ~$250B. Make it happen the following week as well. And say when he wins he'll be sending more checks until he hits the $2 trillion the Dems want for themselves.

"We are starting to have very productive talks," he said. "[House Speaker Nancy Pelosi] wants it to happen too. She doesn’t want it not to happen. I believe she wants it to happen because it’s so good for our country."

Trump claimed talks about an airline bailout plus $1,200-per-person stimulus checks were back on.

"It wasn’t workers’ fault. It wasn’t our airlines’ fault. China did this terrible thing to us. I will not be forgetting about that," he said. "We should not hurt workers. … This was a horrible scourge."

By Friday, Trump’s advisers had presented the $1.8 million counter-offer even as the president told conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh that he wanted a bigger stimulus bill than the Democrats’ $2.2 trillion proposal.

"I would like to see a bigger stimulus package than either Democrats or Republicans are offering,” Trump said during a two-hour appearance on the radio program Friday afternoon.
