It is amazing how gets a pass for that but it tells you he isn't actually considered a superstar outside of agenda purposes. Can you imagine this happening with Harden or Kawhi or Luka (let alone LeBron, triggering LDS) and there being basically no reaction?

He is a beta star. Great player as a sidekick. The Lebron haters that build him up to try and discredit Lebron are half right. Lebron was awesome during the 2016 run and deserves a ton of credit for his dominance, but Kyrie was a great sidekick. One of the best offensive sidekicks in NBA history.

However he is a pure beta star. He can't lead a team anywhere and his teams often get better after he leaves or gets injured. Even the Cavs still made the Finals without him and getting no real replacement for him. Boston has bookended his disappointing year as the leader with two conference finals appearances. They barely missed the playoffs without him the first time and should make it this time.
