It is ironic he calls a former MVP "trash" while hyping Kyrie (0 career MVP votes--not even a 5th place vote)--but we now what Sammy "D"'s agenda is with Kyrie (and AD, Wade)...

Dantoni's problem is his philosophy is too rigid. Rockets looked great early in this series, they were jacking and making tons of 3's... but Vogel adjusted. He had the Lakers totally run them off the line, and give them carte blanche coverage in the midrange zone where they all looked like deer in headlights. Even Harden, he would pump fake, get in the midrange and instead of pulling up for the free shot would constantly try to find his way back behind the line. They couldn't and wouldn't adjust. It was comical how easily the Lakers were reading their passes and jumping them by the end of the series. It was like Frank took a page out of Billy B's playbook and filmed their practices. :lol
He really really.... really owned Dantoni. You don't have Nash and Amare anymore bro. You cant just out talent teams. Imagine if Harden had a 2nd option capable of a hot 35 ppg like Stoudemire used to be. Instead he had he who shall not be named.

I'll be surprised if Morey isn't gone as well.

Dude traded Capela to the Hawks
Capela was injured, he would have been useless against the Lakers. Capela got outplayed by Kevan Looney last year. Lakers are just better period, Rockets might be better from 3-5 maybe, but Lakers were better 1-2, 6-12.

I’ve read two reports he’s who the Pacers want but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in the Bulls just to piss me off.
Im sure he could turn Lavine into a 30ppg player who doesn’t matter. Coby White would love him too.

Which is weird because I vaguely remember Nash shooting the midrange off the pick shooting floaters teardrops all that. Even Amare used to shoot the midy when he faced up at the high post.
I guess it's a personnel thing. Westbrook is a 10 yr vet but he has no go to moves and still can't shoot for shit and Harden is all about 3s. They don't really fit but dwade and bron didn't really fit aswell.
Not saying it won't work but
I don't see them sacrificing their game on behalf of the team like the heat big 3 did.

Is he linked to being interested in any particular teams? He was an assistant in Philly for a while.

Because of his name & style I always thought Dantoni was a euro coach from Italy. :lol
I just looked it up, the guy is from west virginia. It's all making sense now.

He was a great point guard in Italy in his day. He was one of Kobe’s favorite players growing up in Italy. He was like a 5 time champ over there. He’s a legendary player in Italy.

A couple of things would have made them more competitive, one obviously being a different player in the rotation than Wesbrook, someone who can hit 3s. He's a horrible fit because his shooting is trash and he often makes poor decisions in tight situations, also very emotional.
The other would be to have a few more bodies available. House not being suspended and someone else to play major minutes instead of WB would have been great for them.p

How? D'antoni's offense has always been PG heavy and philly is the complete opposite. I cant think of a worse fit for either of them.

Ben Simmons is a pretty good pickn'roll player, he should be able to construct a good offense around him. Could also trade Embiid maybe for something like Fox and Hield while starting Horford instead.

Too bad for him. He likely isn't going to get another scenario that good. He was probably going to be fired regardless and wanted to preempt the situation. A "you can't fire me, I quit" type of deal. The Rockets did fine with him as their coach. They would have won a title had Chris Paul not gone down in 2018.

Westbrook is near uncoachable, and with him out of the way you see Billy Donovan is a quite competent coach, while D'Antoni couldnt find a way to integrate him into the Rockets.

yeah, Donovan couldnt do much with Westbrook, which made people underrate him.
but his Thunders team was good, i would say better than the rockets this year
it would be funny if the Rockets ended up hiring Donovan. but they should trade westbrook
