View Full Version : Jokic is a superstar

He's been very good from day 1 and obviously kept improving. Rookie year he had a 21.5 PER, 58.2 TS%, and a 3.9 BPM.
26/10/5.5 on 52/46/81 for this playoff run.
He was 25/13/8 on 51/36/85 last year.
He's kind of hard to rate because he isn't a good defender, but I would take him over Embiid (Not over AD tho). I guess he's the 7th or 8th best player in the league?
He's a superstar for sure.
26 career playoff games - 27.1 PER, 60.3 TS%, 9.2 BPM

Why do you always make the most egregious overreaction threads?
You were just on Harden’s nuts saying he was the BITW and better than Lebron. Did you hop off that wagon already?
There are 5-6 superstars in the league... Lebron, AD, KD (healthy), Curry (healthy), Kawhi, Giannis. That’s it. Even AD is debatable. He has the stats and skills of a superstar but hasn’t shown the ability to lead/carry a team like the others have (Giannis at least does in the RS).

Your definition of superstar is just different.

26 playoff games last two years - 27.1 PER, 60.3 TS%, 9.2 BPM - Jokic
Those are superstar playoff numbers. Not a VERY long sample size...but long enough for me.
Let's compare Giannis last two playoffs. He is very similar to Jokic.
24 playoff games - 28.2 PER, 58.5 TS%, 9.4 BPM.
Harden last two years - 23 playoff games - 26.5 PER, 60 TS%, 8.8 BPM
...so how is Jokic not a superstar?

What an absurd take.
Jokic easily is a superstar and has proven it. He's going toe to toe with an MVP level player with jamal ****ing murray as his sidekick.

IT was never even CLOSE to what Jokic has done the last two years in the playoffs. You have no idea what you're talking about.
IT in 2017 playoffs had a 18.1 PER, 56.3 TS%, and .6 BPM...laughable to compare him to Jokic.

Nah his supporting cast is better than you are giving them credit for.
Jamal Murray has been fantastic these playoffs. 26/5/6.5 on basically 50/50/90.

The supporting cast definitely isn't "bad." Murray and Millsap are allstar caliber players.
But they probably are a lottery team without Jokic, especially in the West. Kinda hard to argue against that.

Murray is leading the Nuggets in scoring and assists
Their offense completely falls apart when Murray goes to the bench

AD has no superstar ability I can stop you right here from ruining an otherwise great post. Here is the top 5 and only superstars in the league in 2020
Kawhi, LeBron, Durant, Curry, Giannis
Could be next: Harden, Jokic, Kyrie, Murray,
Could be next after proving something: Davis, Butler, Klay, Westbrook, Middleton, P. George

Lol no it does not. Jokic is the much more important player. Murray just had a hot shooting streak.
Jokic as the screener or as the initiator with the ball at the perimeter is so good for the Nuggets.

I also think Jokic is a superstar. Or at the very least on the cusp of it. He's got impact the "amazing scorer" Murray simply doesn't. On both ends too.

Barkley was lazy but he could block shots straight without a run off two legs. Barkley was a better leaper, faster, quicker, more agil, more potent and also stronger o well but in this era you are not allowed to play physical etc.

Someone post his game winner/clutch stats. There ridiculous.
His defense is really overblown too. He's very smart defensively, great positioning, great hands. Just no lift/rim protection. He's usually an average/above average defender if you look at the stats. When he's bad, he's VERY bad. I don't think many people watch the Nuggets consistently so his defense does get slept on. Like vs Utah he was brutal defensively for the first few games but now he's fine.
Murray has stepped up this year HUGE which has been big. But imagine swapping Murray/LeBron and seeing the affect it would have. Jokic is probably a top 5 player at this point, and no worse than top 7-8. Look at what someone like AD did in NO vs Jokic in Denver.
Jokic is already one of the most skilled C's to ever play in the NBA and he just turned 25 abit ago.

And Giannis and Harden are known as playoff chokers. Which is why I clearly stated they do their carrying the regular season.
Jokic wasn’t even the best player on his own team in the first round. If Murray hadn’t turned into a god they would’ve been a first round bounce and literally no one would care. Jokic is a second tier star, but no where near the level of the guys I listed as an overall player.
Tpols is a moron, this is the most attention I’ll show him.

My only problem with Giannis is that he is way too 1-dimensional and easy to plan around as we saw for 2 years runing. I still include him as one (and Harden), but they have massive flaws that I don't see being fixed unless they play with the right top-end player.

Dude I'm so happy, I was hoping to Jinx the Clips this whole time. I thought they'd pose the biggest challenge to the Lakers.
I 100% want Lebron to win one more ring before he retires, that's all.
