View Full Version : How much importance do you place on coaching?

We’ve seen some coaches change a team like Kerr to the Warriors, Jackson to the Lakers, and Budenholzer to the Bucks(RS wise). However, I think we can agree that coaching in the NBA is less important than it is in the NFL and European football. Like, when Cavs beat the Warriors in 2016, do you really think Ty Lue mattered? It’s not like anyone gives him credit, he’s an afterthought

Ty Lue did matter. A coach has to have the respect of his star players and Lue had that when Blatt did not. Lue will get a head coaching job before Blatt gets another one in the NBA.

But yes coaching doesn't always matter. The Rockets did not lose to the Lakers because of coaching. They lost because their roster was put together poorly and Westbrook didn't play well.
