It just means that all NBA GMs and entire organizations miss shit. They're not always right, no matter how much money they make. Nobody gets it right 100% of the time or even close to it. Not really much to it other than that.

Wiggins was the first pick. What if LeGM had drafted Jokic instead of trading for Love?

That was a great pick but it's also lucky. If they knew he was gonna be anything like this, would have used their 1st round pick on him. Obviously I didn't do any research so I have no idea if they even had their 1st rd pick.

There's a lot more to it than that.

Skill is underappreciated in this league, and europeans are discriminated against from the jump due to their lack of crowd drawing athleticism.

odd when they say it's the quiet type that makes the best serial killer yet the organization lucked into the situation all the same

Nurkić, Šarić, McDermott, and Stausks all went lottery that year. 3 before LaVine who was jumping out the gym. They just missed him. Everyone. Nuggets too. If they knew they would have taken him at 11.

While it's undoubtedly true that there's a heavy emphasis on athleticism above just about everything for players that are coming into the league... I very much doubt that was the only factor for all 30 teams passing. We may never know.

Gilbert Arenas was like 30th pick aswell.

Big Nik Swinging went 8th ahead of this guy:

And coincidentally LaVine is a better 3 point shooter for their careers too.

It’s just a crapshoot at times.

There's always going to be outliers.

Fact of the matter remains Jokic was criminally underrated.

Ha. What's his diet really like?

Is he better now slim and do you see it as permanent?

With foreign players it’s always complicated. We never really know how good they will turn out, remember darko?

To be fair, even now, if you were to erase all he's done in the NBA and nobody knew how he would perform, he likely still wouldn't be considered a high potential player.
His skill level is super stealthy, he still looks too big and slow but his BBall IQ is so far off the charts he makes it work.

With Jokic surrounded by shooters and 2 way players along with the experience of last post season, the Nuggets look like they are for real and shouldn't be underestimated by AD and the Lakers.

This thread makes me wonder why joker never got a mip award at one point as time went on

No one can tell the future, be realistic.. Every draft most of the top 10 end up being average at best, always a huge bust somewhere in there, and theres always a steal or two in the second round..

Superstars dont come along often..
