Nearly 20 percent of millennials and Gen Z in New York believe Jews caused the Holocaust, according to a new survey released Wednesday.

The findings come from the first-ever 50-state survey on the Holocaust knowledge of American millennials and Gen Z, which was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

For instance, although there were more than 40,000 camps and ghettos during World War II, 58 percent of respondents in New York cannot name a single one.

Additionally, 60 percent of respondents in New York do not know that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

“The results are both shocking and saddening and they underscore why we must act now while Holocaust survivors are still with us to voice their stories,” said Gideon Taylor, president of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

A total of 34 percent of respondents in New York believe the Holocaust happened but the number of Jews who died has been greatly exaggerated or believe the Holocaust is a myth and did not happen or are unsure.

A shocking 28 percent of respondents in New York believe it is acceptable to hold neo-Nazi views, while 62 percent have never visited a Holocaust museum in the United States.

At least 65 percent of respondents in New York believe Holocaust education should be compulsory in school, and 79 percent say it is important to keep teaching about the Holocaust, in part so that it does not happen again.

“We need to understand why we aren’t doing better in educating a younger generation about the Holocaust and the lessons of the past. This needs to serve as a wake-up call to us all, and as a road map of where government officials need to act,” Taylor added.

Data was collected from 1,000 interviews nationwide and 200 interviews in each state with adults ages 18 to 39 selected at random.

It's sad. We have the power to set the country back on the right track though. We can teach our offspring not to become the brainless zombies we see walking around today. My lady and I are planning for our first child next year, and outside of the genius-level DNA and physical prowess that he or she will possess, I will teach them and educate them on American History and the promises this great country offers. I will teach them to work hard and to not make excuses for their hardships in life.

On a side note, have any one of you been inside one of those cattle wagons that were used to transport Jews to concentration camps like the one pictured above?

I did once and I will tell you that I would never want to go back inside one of those again.

Semi related but I'm always looking to share personal stories whenever I get the chance lol.

I was talking to one of the farm workers I know, and he said when he came here from Mexico illegally with his parents and siblings in the 90s, they hitched a ride on a train car that had stopped in the middle of nowhere. They climbed inside and his 6 year old sister fell asleep on top of a big chemical tank. Apparently whatever it had in it was leaking fumes and killed her while she slept. They had to leave her corpse in the train, or stay with her and get deported, so they left his little sister behind. It was a sacrifice that benefitted them because he now owns his own home and so does his mom. His dad actually bought it after years of hard work but he was killed by a shotgun blast to the face in Mexico. Word is that his mom put out the hit after she became afraid that he'd bring his mistress to the US and kick her out on the street...but that's a story for another day haha

Yeah, theres very little “alt right” among New York City millennials. Sorry to break it to ya.

Holocaust denying young people in NYC are likely to be muslims, black israelites, BDS campus crazies etc. All of which have significant NYC populations.

I know youre cucked to the mainstream narrative that “right = racist” so youre not gonna backtrack off your obviously foolish assumption.

You do you. Be the primetime we all know.

If so, this article is worded extremely poorly.

Supposedly a 50 state survey and they keep citing NY stats. With occasional references to 'Americans' mixed in. I understand it's an NY magazine but they still word it strangely.

In any event, it says nearly 20% in NY specifically believe Jews caused the Holocaust. You think Bubba and Cletus make up 20% of NY millennials?

And the funny thing is all these young, woke socialist/communist kids who hate capitalism, are making billions upon billions for these telecom conglomerates just by being obsessed with stupid shit on their smart phones.

They could basically “start the revolution” by ditching their smart phones but theyre too addicted to meaningless garbage.

Do the study ask for exact number? I think most people know millions of jews were killed and/or tortured in the holocaust, just not the exact 6 million number.

I was having a weird conversation about how many bitches Stalin could pull in 2020 if he were normal height and nobody knew he was Stalin. Then we wondered if kids these days would even know who he was and I remembered this topic.

She asked the next two people if they knew who he was...neither did. She was floored. I was surprised by one but not the other. Neither was that young. The youngest is 28 and the older 30-31. One of them eventually remembered who he was but in a really general way. She asked a third who did know he was a Russian(I didn’t feel a need to make the distinction he would have) but not much beyond that.

This is an American education issue to me. You can’t go through the school system and not learn about Stalin. Not like I remember learning about that era....you just know it. You know it like you know 2+2. It’s too basic to even remember learning.

Im sure I’ve picked up more from tv, movies, and just being curious about things and googling over the years but the basics? That was school. And schools teaching just enough to pass a test and not retain is obviously an issue here.

Strange.

In terms of "English" and "History" classes, K-12 public indoctrination textbooks focus mainly on the suffering of Jewish and black people.

If two-thirds don't know the 6 million Jews number, I wonder how many know about the # of Russians who died during WW2... maybe two-thirds don't even know Russia was involved in WW2... :confusedshrug:

One issue is, a lot of kids simply forget what they learn immediately because they dont care. People who are curious and find things like history interesting will have a much 'stickier' memory for it.

I remember a ton of extremely random facts I learned in school, which I guarantee a ton of people who were in that very same class with me have no recollection of today.

A lot of people just aren't into academic learning and dont have the memory for it.

That said, I do suspect past generations of kids absorbed history and other basic subjects more easily before social media became their entire preoccupation etc.

Kblaze8855
09-17-2020, 03:36 PM
I’m sure you’re right about that. And also that some people are just more prone to look into and retain those things because they find it interesting. The people who think I’m some history buff because of knowing things I consider pretty basic is kinda weird to me. I remember a lot of things but half of it is from documentaries or movies with a little real reading mixed in. I don’t feel like I know anything...which is why I look into things. But people around me seem to think I know a lot...when the root of it is my own ignorance making me curious.

I genuinely don’t understand people who aren’t annoyed by how little they know. I’m mad that I could spend a lifetime trying to get my head around the relationship between speed, time, and gravity and not really understand it.

People who can just not understand the world and not care are a mystery to me.

Id like to just talk to experts about ____ all day if it wouldn’t get in the way of life.

Are they basketball fans? If you are a basketball fan, you will be exposed to international players, olympic games Russia vs USA...they may then somehow read some stories about those people's countries.
Also, if they are 30 years old, born in 90s? End of cold war. So, they may now know more about China than Russia.

I would wager that north of 99% of young Americans don't know a damn thing about the money supply in this country, they don't know that the Federal Reserve isn't actually federal, but a privately owned shell game and pyramid scheme that has been robbing the American citizens of their purchasing power for 100 years while also allowing our country to conduct numerous immoral wars.

And unlike the holocaust, this is actually having an impact on their lives both here and for the foreseeable future with the inevitable collapse.

So you tell me what the bigger issue is.
