View Full Version : Nothing quite rolls off the tongue like "Kobe!" after making a shot

Try other players... it just doesn't sound right...

"Le-Bron!"
"Jor-dan!" "M-J!"
"Cur-ry!"

Nah... Kobe just rolls off the tongue. I'm not even a Kobe fan and he was overrated when he was still active, but you must admit, there's nothing else you can say in replace of "Kobe!" after making a shot. It just feels right.

I’ve heard Curry and Jordan as well, but never Lebron. I guess people know better in real life.

I never got why people say "Kobe" (or Jordan or Lebron or whatever, though Kobe is most popular to say) when making a jumpshot (unless its a fadeaway or dunk)....

A jumpshot (from anywhere) you should only say:
Reggie!
Curry!
Ray!
Bird!
Or some shooter like that.. Steve Kerr! lol... these guys would beat Kobe, Jordan, Lebron in a shootout, blindfolded...

Reggie!
Curry!
Ray!
Bird!
Or some shooter like that..

Um no one in the history of mankind says Lebron. Nice try trying to sneak that in there. You ain’t slick dog.

I think people associate it to making tough important shots while having a nice shooting form. So you have jordan, kobe, or curry.

lol Kobe and Jordan had many more jump shots in their arsenal than the guys you mentioned sans Bird. Yeah sure, I'll say Reggie or Ray when I come off a screen and knock down an open 3. :oldlol: What about face up mid range jumpers? One/two dribble pull-ups? Step backs? Or even a simple crossover into a jumper? Kobe and MJ did that a hell of a lot more than the guys you mentioned.

You guys are missing the point.

It literally just SOUNDS more satisfying to say Kobe.

Clearly there were better shooters and yes more clutch players as well.

It's like his name was literally made to be shouted while shooting wads of paper into trash cans. It sounds CORRECT.

“Thickemz!” actually works pretty smoothly.

And people will know youre talking about Lebron.

Because of the whole huge ***** thing.

"Ko-be!" is just as lame and awkward, but it's become a meme.

Exactly. Way more prevalent around here especially with the younger generation who didnt really watch Kobe growing up
