View Full Version : Jayson Tatum will never be a superstar

He just doesnt have it. You can tell from his body language in the last 2 1st halves.

Moping around, dumb decision making, bad defense, always rushing.

He will be a star for years but never a superstar. Hes too weak and soft.

He has some really bad bball IQ. I love it though. Let Boston drown with these guys as their stars.

Yeh, but there is so many talented 22 years old. Murray, Doncic are step above.

Never

You could see it coming at 22 with guys like Bran in the 07 run, KD in the 11 run, Kawhi winning FMVP, Wade in 05 was already emerging as better than Shaq in playoffs, even cats like Luka and Murray now etc.

Tatum is just too weak mentally.

You're talking about 4 of the 20 or so most talented players ever, heights no one expects Tatum to reach; while Luka looks primed to be the next generational talent

Superstar is a subjective term anyway, so while I definitely don't think Tatum will reach the level of the players you mentioned, I definitely think he still has time to improve and develop his game, and barring injury I think he'll join the ranks of superstar in a few years

I seriously doubt anyone believed Curry would develop into what he became at 22 years old

Steph is an outlier. He played 3 years of college, had alot of injury issues early in his career and didnt even get to the playoffs until 2013. He was def a late bloomer.

Tatum weve seen him in the playoffs every year. There's a large sample now.

Hes a perennial star like Playoff P. Nowhere near superstar.

Cant excuse his age because as it is, luka, murray and herro have shown much better bball iq. I dont know if bbal iq is something he can drastically improve on. He just keeps on making boneheaded decisions on offense. I cant disagree that his ceiling is not too high

people grow at different rates

He's averaging what? 25 10 5 in these playoffs? You really think he will peak at those numbers?

If Tatum can play like he did in the first two games of the 1st round against the Sixers on a semi-consistant level. He will be the best player of the post LeBron era.

:roll::roll:

Youre a complete retard if you believe this.

And youre a Philly fan you should know better.

Simmons is top 5 defender in the NBA and probably the best Tatum defender in the league. He wouldve had lil boi in clamps if he wasnt hurt.

LMAO @ Tatum being better than Luka, Giannis, Jokic, Murray, Booker, healthy Zion etc.

All this shows is a willingness to use words with no real steady definition to keep moving goal posts. He’s putting up 26/10/5 and in his second conference finals when plenty of all time greats never made one. He’s already what people generally mean when they say “superstar” and you choosing to not call him that doesn’t mean anything. It’s a useless and totally subjective term anyone can apply or withhold for their own reasons.

He can not be a superstar in your eyes all the way to the HOF so what does it matter?

Nobody meets the standards of people out to hate. If haters allowed their standards to be met most of them would have to shut up eventually. But the standards are personal and therefore always possible to move out of reach.

He might be around 15 more years. Just putting the word “never” on such a thing at this age is pretty much trolling. Just saying shit you can’t back up to get a reaction. You have no information about 2026 but you say “never” anyway because it’s more firm in your convictions and a troll has to have that.

Just shit talk generally. Shit talk and shit posting.

So we're saying a 22 year 3rd year player who's already third team All-NBA, has led the Celtics to two conference finals already( he was their best 2018 playoff performer) has already maxed out and can't improve any further? The guy is barely past the drinking age and already a top 15 level player. Based on current trajectory he'll probably comfortably be top 10 by 2023.

I hope tatum continues to improve. Certainly talented but I hope he expands on his offensive arsenal, have better ball control on the drive, and read defenses better.

My assessment of Tatum - Solid ball player bordering on becoming a superstar, but will not be a franchise player. More in the Carmelo Anthony mold, which in today's basketball, these type of players are becoming rare.

Celtics probable franchise player ? - Jaylen Brown.
