Lebron makes it to the NBA Finals again, and he has a chance to alleviate his abysmal NBA Finals record. With the 4th title, Id say he will make a strong case for top 3 all time. If he wins FMVP, he will likely to surpass Magic and maybe Kareem too. However, with another loss his Finals winning percentage will be the lowest(30%) among all top 10 players of all time, and I will have to put Duncan ahead of him, which drops him out of top 5. Lebron would've stayed at top 5 if he didnt make it to the Finals, but now that hes there, its all or nothing. Lets see if he will make a push to top 3 and maybe even top 2, or he will not be able to sustain a top 5 spot. Whatever will happen, should be interesting for us neutral fans.

Whats wrong with this? 4/10 is worthy of top 2-3 discussion, while 3/10 is not a top 5 player of all time to me. Its win or bust for Lebron, his legacy is on the line. Gotta admire the fact that Lebron is willing to take a gamble for top 2-3 spot at the risk of falling out of top 5 if he fails.

LeBron stays top 5 if he loses in the first round, but drops out making the Finals? Yep, too retarded to even take seriously, but you do you bruh

Its not that he drops out making the finals, its that he drops out losing in the Finals, see the difference? Theres not a chance that a player with abysmal 3/10 record in the NBA Finals belongs to the top 5 of all time, its just common sense. Lebron has to win this title, or he is not a top 5 of all time.

The truth is that, for a top 5 caliber player in NBA history, losing in NBA Finals is a blow to his legacy. We are talking about top 5 players here, it has to use a unique measure. Jerry West and Elgin Baylor lost more in NBA Finals but well, they aint even top 10 players to begin with, so it wont matter for them.

Shut up idiot. He's already top 3. 10 NBA Final appearances?
4x MVP 4x RINGS 4x FMVP Number in points in the playoffs
Top 3 all time leading scorer. If you don't have him Top 2 or top 3 you are just a hater.

The man is just the ON AND OFF THE COURT.

We can understand if he was the favorite to win all the time. But when you got franchises building teams to beat you. I am sorry but you the goat. 2 superteams were formed in order to beat LeBron. GSW 2017-2019 and Celtics 2008-2010.

The gamble is only your irrelevant ass. Why do you think your opinion matters. NBA experts have him Top 2 or top3. 10 NBA finals. 9 in the last 10 years. Absolutely ridiculous. 3 different teams.

Actually the 08-10 Celtics were not formed to beat Lebron, he and the Cavs were irrelevant until 2008-2009 season and the Celtics already beat the Lakers in the Finals in the summer. The Warriors team might've been assembled to beat him but, well, Lebron had a taste of his own medicine when he colluded in 2010. I for one dont think theres any issue for Lebron making a superteam, he has rights to do that and as long as he is able to win enough titles, no one should hold this against him. The problem with Lebron is that his Finals record is abysmal despite the fact that he's had superteams in the last few years. You may argue that the Warriors superteam was better than his own, but top 5 level players shouldnt seek excuses like that. If Lebron cant win another title and continues to lose in the Finals, hes out of top 5 after his career is over, its just that simple.

If he wins his 4th ring and Finals MVP with his 3rd team, and 3-4 seasons down the stretch if he breaks Kareem's scoring record, he just might crack top 20.

Looks like its the Heat this time, they lack talents and are perhaps the worst opponents Lebron ever faced in NBA Finals. If he loses again in the Finals, hes out of top 5, theres no excuse.

Can you name a single team MJ faced in his entire career that me and the boys from my block couldn't beat into submission on and off the court?

I am sorry, a player going 3/10 in NBA Finals really, has no business in the top 5. Lebron Finals record is already abysmal right now, a 4th title will be his redemption, he needs this opportunity.

Im not a fan of lebron but the total volume of work still speaks for itself. Regardless if his finals record is bad, but the fact that he has stayed significant for a long time has its merit. I am not a fan of the circumstances that allowed him to be in the finals either - eliminating the opposition by teaming up with wade and bosh, that got him 3 finals right away, then recruiting AD and others to LA. The only ones I give him 100% credit is with the cavs. Still, 10 finals in the records should count for something.

As a Lakers’ fan, I used to hate The King. But fast forward in today’s basketball....The game has changed, thanks to the Warriors offense. One argument for the The King to be The Goat, he changed his game !! He is now a great facilitator, his 3 point game, perimeter game has changed. He has kept a high level of excellence with the new LeBron. Hard to argue against The King to eventually be The Goat.

for goat discussions, the 3 out of 10 finals record weighs a lot. 10 finals says he gets himself into the top conference position a lot, but 3 wins says that he cant get it done, cant seal the deal. in this case, the 3 should outweigh the 10. in the top 5 discussion for sure along MJ, KAJ, russell, magic, bird but not a lock in if he loses this year. winning does little, 4 out of 10 still not looking good amidst the recruitment over the years.

If LeBron wins he's the GOAT

If he loses he's out of my top 3, simple

Losing in the finals as the bookies favourite not once but twice would be a hit to his legacy

3 - 7 in the finals is not a good look :(
