View Full Version : Easiest path to a ring in NBA history?

IllegalD

Is LeBron about to win the easiest championship in NBA history?

Let's look at the facts:

1) LeBron jumps to the Western Conference to change the narrative that's dogged him his whole career about playing in the Leastern Conference... Except he waits until the coast is clear and the best competition (Dynasty Warriors) get dismantled to do it.

2) Got lucky getting to dodge the Battle of LA matchup vs Kawhi and the Clippers

3) Didn't have to worry about facing the KD/Kyrie super duo with a deep Nets squad in the NBA Finals (who would've steamrolled through the Least just like LeBron did all those years). Durantula has been his kryptonite in the Finals

4) Got lucky that the league MVP Giannis has a sh*t supporting cast

5) Faced an inferior version of the Rockets after Morey stupidly traded Point Gawd CP3 for chemistry killer Westbrick

6) Ben Simmons sat out bubble due to injury

7) LeBron got 5 months to rest up and heal because of Covid and the benefit of a shortened season (benefits older players)

8) NBA Bubble with no fans is like playing scrimmages in practice (no travel, no away games, etc.)

9) Faces the Miami Heat, the WORST opponent in NBA Finals history with no true Superstar

10) The "best" team he faced the entire playoffs is Denver Nuggets team that makes the 2009 Melo/Billuips Nuggets look like a Superteam in comparison

11) LeBron got to be a side-kick to a soon-to-be Finals MVP Anthony Davis

12) Got bailed out by AD vs the Nuggets with an epic buzzerbeating game-winner for the ages

13) League clearly pushing for Lakers to win because of "Kobe's memory" (exploiting his tragic death)

Thoughts? :confusedshrug:

Nick Wright said the narrative would shift immediately, and it did. lol.

nick wright SWORE that giannis would win the 19' title.

then despite seeing the flaws in Giannis' game exposed, he doubles down and picks Giannis again in 2020..

nick picks Giannis because he views Giannis as a lebron-type of player that can bulldoze and overpower down the lane - nick wright's limited knowledge of basketball prefers thinking about the game in these simple terms, rather than considering actual skill, which nick knows nothing about

so don't listen to nick .he's wrong and misses big stuff

Actually, the reason he did that was to build up Giannis (even though he has a sh*t squad not worthy of helping him contend) because he thought his boyfriend LeBron would face him the Finals, so if LeBron won (which he would've easily done) he could've built up LeBron even more for defeating "the legendary Giannis Bucks" :oldlol:

I'll address these stupid points

1) he went to la last two offseasons ago when cousins went to gs and they seemed unbeatable lol...

2) are we sure, lac's flaws got exposed quite a bit. why couldnt the lakers expose them even more than denver did. Always flawed to judge a team just based on the sum of talent

3) again he went last year he likely didnt even see kd/kyrie coming. Also I just disagree and I've said it on this board a lot, they're more obviously flawed than the clips unless they make some roster moves

4) giannis also shit the bed himself if you're being honest. his cast is not championship level but not shit. on paper they should've come out of the east, none of the east contenders are super teams.

5) sure. people still thought the rockets were pretty good. Lebron got lucky westbrook was coming off injury but there's a decent chance he doesnt play too well even if healthy.

6) lol just irrelevant. based on getting swept and their massive fit issues, they werent a finals threat

7) agreed but he's not the only one. for example, many thought harden would benefit a lot with rest and he did play well individually in the playoffs. someone like kawhi could always use rest.

8) I would argue no road games help other guys especially role players. lebron's pretty road proof granted i dont have home/road playoff splits for him.

9) it's the majority opinion on the other thread that's not the case if healthy. they are awful with no bam/dragic so yes that's pretty lucky

10) that's subjective and point is irrelevant. Even if kobe had a harder run(ofc you go back to him), that doesnt mean this is the easiest path in NBA history. 87 lakers is an obvious counterexample

11) and plenty of hofers got to be a sidekick and many people would disagree that lebron is the sidekick. magic and kareem alternated and had all stars around them, your guy kobe too.

12) you're going need to get specific with a lot of video evidence to argue for rigging.

Look... what have you refuted?

Did the Pacers 2nd and 3rd best players get hurt? Did Rik Smits and Jalen Rose get whacked? Imagine a series where Reggie Miller has to 2v1 Shaq and healthy Kobe... That's what we have in this series. It's an ultimate lopsided affair.

I'd agree if we watch Lebron play at 00 Kobe level and his team still win. Maybe that happens. We'll see.

But, I ask again, what is your point? Lebron is in year 17 and playing at a level that even some of the best players ever didn't peak at. He's still arguably the best player in the league...and he's winning deep in the playoffs yet again.

What is your point? What is there to hate on that your favorite player also didn't benefit from?

Of course you'd have to agree.

The Pacers were a hair away from beating the dynasty GOAT Bulls... and a much bigger challenge than this pathetic hobbled Miami team. The early 2000's West was much better than this bubble BLM west we've had this year too.

My point is, given how this shit unfolded, it isn't really impressive. AD is playing like prime KAJ. (you can't refute that) Rondo and Dwight are playing like they are their old all star selves. The Lakers only western competition got bounced on some 1 in a million shit due to Doc. The Kobe-Shaq Lakers, even when they 3peated, had to go through a GAUNTLET of talented teams in their conference. This team? Didn't.

It's as simple as that.

1. B.S. LeBron signed with the Lakers July 1, 2018. The KD Warriors still existed, so this is a load of crap.

2) Got lucky getting to dodge the Battle of LA matchup vs Kawhi and the Clippers

2. He didn't dodge LA. Clippers choked their 3-1 lead. I don't know why this is still being talked about on ISH. You play who is in front of you. Clippers didn't get it done. End of story. STFU.

3) Didn't have to worry about facing the KD/Kyrie super duo with a deep Nets squad in the NBA Finals (who would've steamrolled through the Least just like LeBron did all those years). Durantula has been his kryptonite in the Finals

3. How is this relevant to this season? KD tore his achilles last year and didn't even play this season. Kyrie has been off and on injured all season. I don't understand this one. We don't even know if KD will ever be the same. This is arguably the worst sports injury in basketball.

4) Got lucky that the league MVP Giannis has a sh*t supporting cast

4. Got lucky that the Miami Heat matched up well with the Bucks and they underperformed during the bubble? How is this relevant to LeBron?

5) Faced an inferior version of the Rockets after Morey stupidly traded Point Gawd CP3 for chemistry killer Westbrick

5. Again, how is this LeBron's fault? Blame Morey and D'Antoni for wanting small ball and trading Clint Capela to appease Westbrook. How is this relevant to LeBron?

6) Ben Simmons sat out bubble due to injury

6. Okay? So what?

7) LeBron got 5 months to rest up and heal because of Covid and the benefit of a shortened season (benefits older players)

7. So did everyone else in the bubble. What does this have to do with anything? All teams played under the same circumstances and conditions.

8) NBA Bubble with no fans is like playing scrimmages in practice (no travel, no away games, etc.)

8. So what? All the games are played with no fans. How is this an advantage to LeBron? All teams are playing on a neutral court.

9) Faces the Miami Heat, the WORST opponent in NBA Finals history with no true Superstar

9. How is this LeBron's fault that the teams everyone was jizzing over all season long couldn't advance farther? Blame the teams that beat their ass.

10) The "best" team he faced the entire playoffs is Denver Nuggets team that makes the 2009 Melo/Billuips Nuggets look like a Superteam in comparison

10. The Lakers have been the #1 seed all season. This means they deserve to play lower seeded teams. This is why they face the #8 seed. This is pretty self-explanatory. Are you 5-years-old?

11) LeBron got to be a side-kick to a soon-to-be Finals MVP Anthony Davis

11. Doesn't look like a sidekick to me. More like 1a/1b. Almost identical advanced stats and a 2-point difference in PPG and who cares?

12) Got bailed out by AD vs the Nuggets with an epic buzzerbeating game-winner for the ages

12. The NBA is over 70-years-old. Name one player who wasn't "bailed out." Basketball is a team sport. Jordan, Kobe, etc have all been "bailed out." Now LeBron is being penalized for teammates hitting shots.

13) League clearly pushing for Lakers to win because of "Kobe's memory" (exploiting his tragic death)

You're just a cuck. No one is making you watch the games or posting on ISH. You chose to do both.

Thoughts? :confusedshrug:

My other thoughts are I heard all postseason how each team the Lakers faced were going to destroy them and the opposite happened. Then the goal posts are moving farther and farther away. I have never seen a #1 seed so disrespected. Now people are surprised this team is so good. Well, no shit. They have been good all year. I can't wait until the Finals are over so ISH can crash and burn (meaning the meltdowns). It's going to be better than 2016.

There's no such thing as an easiest path. So, the eastern conference was weak for a decade and now the western conference is weak. Maybe LeBron is so good he makes it weak. "The east is wide open!" Now it's weak again? I'm trying to keep up with the narratives, but they are too many. Appreciate greatness. Witness greatness, bitch.

I think you are under-rating teams that you previously thought were really good until they played the Lakers.

But even if I agreed with everything above that you wrote...what would that matter? Most titles in NBA history are won with loaded rosters with the best teams while getting some type of break or luck. I completely agree with that.

What I find impressive about Lebron...is that he's still this damn good on both ends after playing as much basketball as he has. Like, it really isn't impressive to you that Lebron is still playing at an all-time great level at age 35 with the kind of mileage he has on his body?

What players in the NBA right now are better than Lebron?

Yes... his longevity is definitely GOAT. Nobody could deny that. I look for prime ability (skills), fit, and leadership more than that.

Imagine if Dirk constantly hopped around the league playing with Wade, Kyrie, and AD... instead of settling for just... Jason Terry.

Imagine if Karl Malone didnt spend 20 years on the Jazz and team hopped around with MVP talent...

It's manufactured. WWE. Even the Warriors we're never supposed to win but the league tried it's damn'dest. And cost them one.

What is your point?

Do we really need for Kobe fans to pretend like 00 - 02 didn't happen?

Still living in a trailer park fighting over a 20-year old laptop with your brothers, buddy?

And :lol @ you pretending like the Lakers didn't go through the Spurs, Kings, and Blazers all those 3 seasons.

Btw, here's what your idol said about who was the BEST player he's ever faced in the NBA...

https://youtu.be/YVTblMyXPe4

Must really burn your ass knowing that your favorite player considers Kobe (NOT Shaq, NOT Duncan, NOT LeBron) the GREATEST player he's EVER played against. Since it goes so against your own personal views/narrative. :lol:oldlol::banana:

Karl Malone played most of his career with a top 40 player of all-time...perhaps higher. I'm not sure he's getting a lot better than that hopping around.

Again, most titles in NBA history are won with loaded squads...and this Lakers team isn't any different if they win. I just don't understand the argument. Yes, guys like KG and Dirk would have a few more titles if they played with better help...again, what is the point?

It was Kobe fans that really started the "rings" argument anyway...and in terms of leadership...I don't know...Lebron's leadership with AD seems pretty damn good so far.

Nobody thinks Lebron is all of a sudden better if he wins a 4th ring. It is the fact that he's playing so well while also leading a team...and we'll just have to agree to disagree about the Rockets and Nuggets being joke competition....but even if they were...nobody thinks the Lakers winning was ever going to be an insanely impressive ring historically.

But it would still be something...and to pretend it means nothing for a player to play this well at this point of his career while winning...just doesn't hold up.

classic op in this thread. doesnt respond to any of the rebuttals and defaults to a personal attack for people he doesnt like(basically non kobe stans). an unhealthy knowledge of every former player's opinion on kobe, lebron, shaq etc and multiple poster's personal lives because he doesnt know how to formulate his own arguments

Pretty much everyone knows that most players have Kobe over LeBron or at absolute worst have him in the same tier of greatness as MJ/LeBron. It ain't that deep/complicated.

sure. you're the only one ccommitted enough to look up every one of their opinions. I would also counter with being a great player doesnt make someone a great player evaluator. a bunch of great gms were role players or didnt even play in the nba.

Ah yes... The ol "Michale Jordan is the worst GM ever, that PROVES that players can't evaluate talent." argument. Next you're gonna drop the "Robert Horry has 7 rinnnngggggz" argument. :lol

First of all... THE GREATEST GM OF ALL TIME, JERRY WEST, is a Top 15-20 player, the 3rd (4th at absolute worst) SG ever and a perennial HOF as a player.

Second... Evaluating what a player WILL become (which is a crapshoot for ANY GM, even a great one) is nowhere near the same as evaluating a player who's already become what he's going to be or evaluating an entire career.

Please take your facebook/twitter retarded arguments out of here. :facepalm

i wasnt even thinking of mj :lol. west and bird are two exceptions and bird's not even that elite a gm. for every west there are multiple guys like baylor. Dumars was one of the better ones but has one of the most famous draft gaffes and also was awful at the end trading billups for iverson and giving out terrible contracts to gordon and villanueva.

Second there is more to player evaluation for a gm than just projecting young talent. gm's have to determine how much a guy's worth in free agency how a player fits on a team etc that's basic shit.
