View Full Version : Unfortunately the Bubble doesnt count

Its an even bigger asterisks than the 99 lockout title which was coincidentally the lowest rated/watched finals since this year's
Simply the fans know asterisks when they see it.
Id LOVE for the Bubble title to count but it simply doesnt :(
SO many outliers
Jamal Murray isnt even an AS player and put up
27/7/5 on 63 TS% in the playoffs on 45% from 3 with 7 attempts a game:biggums:
Thats basically Steph numbers. Id bet my life savings Murray doesnt play like that for the rest of his career
Him and Mitch were trading 50 pieces with each other which has never happened in the playoffs
Mitch barely improved this season. Yet in the playoffs he average 36/5/5 on 70 TS%:biggums:
this the same nikka that got CLAMPED by Eric Gordon last year averaging 21/5/3 with 4 turnovers on 42 TS%:lol, he had one of the worst series ever
AD was an average midrange shooter and now hes shooting midrange numbers in the playoffs at 55% which is GOAT level midrange numbers
Rajon Rondo is shooting 42% from 3 in the Bubble despite being a career 31% from 3 in the playoffs. There is simply no pressure, no fans, no travel etc. for these players
Tyler Herro had a 37 pt game which only rookie Magic (who is arguably the GOAT rookie) has done
Everyone knows Har_en is a terrible elimination game player yet he put up 30/6/5 on 69 TS% because he felt NO pressure despite being in elimination
The only constant in the playoff bubble has been Westbrick and Playoff P being complete dog shit :lol

you're going be surprised how good murray and herro are next year. they got better on their own too and likely will improve even more with an offseas

Ill bet you Murray still isnt an AS next year
Herro will be one of the better 6th man but he isnt dropping near 40pt playoff games
His defense is horrible and will get exposed next year. Specially when there is actual pressure with crowds and travel

i wouldnt bet on him on being an AS either with the west's talent but he's going play at an all star level imo. herro's defense is an issue but he's just so versatile on offense. could be like 18/5 by next year.

Well put. Shooting numbers by guys you named are way up because that damn Disney hoop as well, its built easier to make shots on then normal hoops. Tyler Herro also would never dominate East finals games.

FT shooting is also drastically up league wide
There is no such thing as pressure FTs in the Bubble
3PT shooting, catch and shoot or off dribble and FT shooting is basically like warmup shots
We have a 5th seed with 2 rookies getting major minutes in the finals :roll:

If the nba replaced the half court logo with a shallow pool of electric eels it would be a one of a kind situation....that would still result in a champion....for one very simple reason....
Youre the champion of people playing under the conditions in question. Champions are who wins among a group of people. You don’t get your ring for how you might do vs the 83 76ers. You get it for what you do vs other teams in the 2020 bubble. Being the champ of 2020 has nothing to do with what anyone might do on any other setting.
You beat your league not any other. It’s gonna count like 99 or 12 or whatever and you’re gonna deal with your feelings about that not mattering for the rest of your life.

No one saying this would be saying it if Lebron lost. If the Heat somehow comeback and win this series, all the people saying it doesn't count will say "3-7" until the end of time.
And if it is so easy to win, how come the Bucks lost in 5 in the second round and the Clippers also lost in the second round? Same setup for every team, other teams just couldn't get it done.

The 99 season also doesn't have an asterisk. Who should have won it if not the Spurs?
They swept the Lakers and swept the Blazers. Yes an 8 seed won the east, but the Knicks had talent and beat the 1 and 2 seed in the East. It is their fault they didn't get it done.
The one team that year you have a small case for is the Jazz. If ever was a team that should have load managed it was them. They were 32-8 before fatigue of a quickened season with not just many back to backs but 3 games in 3 nights did them in. They struggled down the stretch after having the best record and then folded in the playoffs. Even so it was their problem. Stockton and Malone insisted on starting and playing every game. They chose to do that and were beat by the playoffs. Spurs were not.

Its a bubble ring: Good thing is you get to add on to your career playoff stats. You also can do literally whatever the hell you want and not be criticized by other all-time greats because they never experienced the bubble.
Playing defense was already tougher to play in this era but the bubble makes it almost impossible.

So you have an account built around defending someone who went 6/22 against 7'1 Brian Windhorst in the magic kingdom?
Playing defense was already tougher to play in this era but the bubble makes it almost impossible.
So you're saying Kawhi went 6/22 in a situation where it was impossible to play defense? So what would he have done under normal conditions? 1/22?

Basically every single player/coach/staff has said that the bubble is the toughest thing in the history of the league
In fact it seems that it will be another ring that counts for two, like '16

Very interesting.
What a MASSIVE indictment on Kawhi's game 7 going 6/22 and 1/11 in the 2nd half on hoops designed to be easier to shoot on. Really puts the choke into perspective.

It doesn't matter what angle he tries going for. Bron's winning a ring and Kawhit shit the bed. It's checkmate regardless.

Same circumstances for everybody. Titles mean nothing anyway.
Please mentally prepare for LeBron’s 5th next year because it is very unlikely a traditional contender can beat that man if he has an actual MVP level sidekick. Hell LA might push for around 70 wins next season.
At minimum you’d need a team as good as 14 SA. Or 16 GS. Which ever.
