View Full Version : Rondo had to call out LeBron when he was souring on the young guys

And LeBron ******gers will come in defensive because LeBron can do no wrong.
..The Lakers cited Rondo's IQ when they signed him, then quickly learned his willingness to challenge the best was an unexpected bonus. Amid a frustrating 2018-19 season, Rondo noted James souring on the young players and immediately confronted him.
"When guys are making the same mistakes over and over and over, it's hard to bite your tongue," Rondo says, "but I tried to get [James] to focus on his body language.
"Those young guys were looking at everything he did. If they missed four shots in a row and LeBron was making a face, it was crushing to them. He was their Michael Jordan. They didn't want to let him down. But if LeBron said one thing positive to Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma, they immediately were back to their old selves."
Rondo's 2019-20 regular season with L.A. was underwhelming. The only season he averaged fewer assists (5.0) was in his rookie year, and yet another fractured thumb forced him to leave the NBA bubble to undergo surgery. He returned in mid-August, and the Lakers put together a string of wins.
"I honestly believe his return to the bubble saved the Lakers' season," Perkins says. "They were struggling without him. He takes pressure off LeBron and AD, and he turns the key in the back of role players like Caldwell-Pope and Kuzma, because he'll put them in the best position to succeed."
The return of Rondo enabled Vogel to rest James, knowing there was still someone on the floor to help Davis hunt easy baskets. The Lakers' offense has not missed a beat when Rondo is on the floor without James this postseason, rating 120.2 in offensive efficiency. ...
Rondo also called out Dwade/Butler for the same thing in Chicago. Rondo the Sniper is such a real G (other than Dallas but fvck those idiot fans and sexual assaulter Mark Cuban)

"It's all about opportunity and belief from the coach," Rondo tells ESPN in a phone conversation conducted on the eve of Game 1 of the 2020 Finals. "If you give me minutes, let me manipulate the ball, let me be me, then my numbers will spike, and so will the team's.
"But the trust has to be there. And, obviously, that hasn't always been the case."
Seems like he's directly referencing Dallas and rumours were true. Carlsilie put Rondo on such a short leash.

This article is amazing. To think that some fvcking fatwit lardass like RRR3 can shit talk him for years from his basement like the troll he is.... is hilarious.
When Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade publicly torched the team's young players after a loss, Rondo charged to their defense, questioning Butler and Wade's leadership in an Instagram post.
"It was really cool for him to take up for us," Portis says. "Every locker room needs someone who isn't scared of confrontation."
RONDO A REAL ONE. NONE OF THAT DIVA SHIT.

LeBron is a bit more like Michael Jordan than we thought.
It's good that Rondo did that - getting LeBron to check his body language - that was Ty Lue's role for LeBron in Cleveland.

Fvck that racist and sexist organization. Trash. Rondo protested against all the sexual assault going on over there.

"Let me be Me" meaning let Rondo handle the ball, run the team, do it his way. Look, somehow somethings got into him and shooting like he's the second coming of Steve Kerr during these playoffs. People say 'Playoff Rondo' like he activats super-saiyan mode. Maybe its more like during the playoffs, players play below expectations because of the pressure(not use to or cant handle it) and Rondo is just stone cold and loves playoff atmosphere, thrives in it. Wonder why this is his 6th team in 5 years?

Yep....he is not a team guy...and he's never been one to help develop young talent or be patient...
Always more help NOW.
Absolute team cancer....the opposite of a proper leader.

There is a reason LeBron had all those young players traded.
That event happened in 2018-2019 season.

lebron turns teammates into play-finishers, which doesn't develop brand or young players, thus requiring ready-made stars to win (acquired via team-hopping, aka talent-based-winning)
so naturally, rondo must oversee such a player that reduces teammates and then passive-aggressively "sours" on them with petulant body language like a child... at least mj directly berated his teammates - no annoying or confusing body language needed.. and of course, mj didn't reduce teammates to play-finishers either - everyone's assists went UP alongside the goat assist target (non-ball-dominator)
no wonder Ingram exploded after leaving lesbron and his 3-point percentage went back up.. Kuzma will have the same surge once he gets traded this off-season

LeBrons the GOAT but his body language sometimes irritates me
Even right now he pouts and looks down every time there is a defensive breakdown
As a leader your supposed to lift up your teammates but LeBrons body language and overall demanor on the court when things aren't going his way could have a negative effect on the confidence of his teammates

That was true in Chicago too..
Wade was biased towards the vets
but Rondo took care of the younger rookies

Rondo has always been a supporter of young guys and roleplayers. in Boston he was the only guy that would attend the Summer league games and root for the team.
In 5-7 years, he's going to be an amazing coach. I think he's going to have a chance to be a head coach fairly quick.
