The players have enough money to do all the messaging they want. Time to put the money where the mouths are. Send me another AK LeMao!

Don’t even agree with a lot of NBA’s messages but this is cowardly. NBA markets itself as a league that puts social justice above everything and tries to claim moral superiority over other leagues and athletes, now Silver is backtracking because of the awful ratings.

Its for the better, BLM is a racist movement and its funny that it has so many supporters, some people cant use logic and they actually think its okay to fight racism with racism. All lives matter, not just black lives. I am glad if we can get rid of such political correctness craps soon.

First of all, Black Lives Matter ™ has nothing to do with social justice. It’s much closer to being a religion/political party than being the Peace Corps. They arent the arbiters of social justice. They are also extremely EXCLUSIONARY. If you dont accept their doctrine, they are hostile and unwelcoming. Imagine having that logo smeared everywhere during a trophy presentation. Youre basically telling a huge number of people to **** off.

Secondly, the NBA is a profit driven enterprise. If a marketing plan is failing to produce bottom-line results, they will scrap it.

I have no idea if OP has a source on this or not, but if it’s true... nobody should be surprised the NBA is reversing course. Only the naive idiots who really believed the NBA cared more about SJW feelings than about money would be the least bit surprised.

So, he suggested the NBA plans to tone down the messaging NEXT season.

He has removed nothing from anything at this moment.

Your thread title is false.

Lol

NBA should be about pushing basketball and nothing else. Not sucking China's **** and pushing communism promoted by Soros and his cronie elites to destabilize the western world.

There is no such thing as systemic white supremacy lmao.

You quoted my post, yet it seems you didnt read it.

I specifically stated they are closer to being a political party/religion than to being the Peace Corps.

They are about group identity and advancement of a particular ideology. Not about serving others unconditionally.

What a weird attempt at proactive deflection this is.

Itd be one thing if I was hounding you to acknowledge BLM does not actually equate to social justice, and then you resorting to what aboutism.

But I just made it as a general statement. And then you like popped up affirmatively to engage ME with an irrelevant what-about strawman. Usually illogical arguments like that are a last resort/defensive tactic. You totally flipped the script. You different bro :lol

Also, which social groups do you know of that the NBA promotes on their court free of charge?

None but BLM. So theyre the only group germane to this discussion ANYWAY.

I think you invest a lot of your identity into dead-end ideals that sound really edgy and revolutionary, and you get very nervous when people articulate their obvious fallacies and bring your whole perspective on the world closer to implosion.

But thats none of my business...

that is just a bubble scheduling issue. we're in october in the nba finals. never happens. they're playing games on sundays, head to head with the nfl. they played a game on friday night, which they never do in a regular nba finals because no one watches tv on friday nights.

if we were still in june the ratings would've been normal.

The NBA could have made this bubble playoff more interesting IMO. It's a once in a lifetime scenario so experiment with interconference matchups, reduce the number of seeds, give the conference leaders first round byes to reward them in lieu of the lost home court advantage. Hell, finish out the 82 games and then have a NCAA style one and done tournament.

Eh, I don't know about that last one, but just saying the season was already fundamentally changed by the March suspension of play, so go crazy in the bubble and do shit you wouldn't do otherwise to bring back the fans and spike interest. And yes, remove the social justice messaging on the court and jerseys. There are platforms for that without bringing it 'into' the product on the court.

This all sounds potentially fun; unfortunately fun is opposite the direction the NBA decided to go in.

Instead they indulged their pretentious and minimally educated player base in turning the bubble into a low IQ fake-woke cringefest.

As a result, it wasnt fun and hardly anyone ended up giving a shit.

At least maybe itll bring back the guy who sexually assaulted a woman before marching toward his vehicle in hostile defiance of police orders to cooperate with an arrest.

Because... Black Lives Matter.

I'm not crazy about the social justice crap either, but I disagree that they should have changed the format. The whole situation has been so strange that it was important to preserve normalcy where possible.

Some of those ideas I think the league has already talked about, especially interconference seeding. Ratings have been trending downwards the past few years. I don't think a one-off change in format for a one-off situation compromises anything. I'm curious to know what they're going to do to reverse that trend in general. Lebron is really the only mass appeal guy right now( love or hate) and he doesn't have much time left. Usually when an established star is outgoing his successor has emerged by now. Lot of great players currently, but who's that 'next guy'?
