You are omitting the part where he said he wont participate in virtual debates.
Democrats continue to show how much of a pansy they are. There are many ways to keep two candidates safe within the same room. Does not have to be virtual.

You're just as pathetic. You're rooting for a sports team. That is, unless, you want to make the argument that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are good candidates and not part of a rigged system run by psychopaths. At which point I will then disregard anything you ever have to say ever again.
The debate doesn't really sway voters unless there's a huge gaffe made by one side or the other. So far, there has not been a huge gaffe by either candidate. Very few if any people made their minds up as a result of watching the previous debate. No new information was given. It's mostly just entertainment.
And how do you know he's getting his ass kicked? Where is your objective proof of such a statement?
If you're going to start citing polls, realize, that in this country... in 2020... voting republican, especially voting Donald Trump, is enough of an issue and potential emotional catalyst for some people, that his voting base will not always honestly answer these questions. And 2016 proved that, unless you want to argue that the polls are flat out falsely reported, in which case the polls don't mean anything anyways.
In any event, I await your objective proof that Trump is "getting his ass kicked badly" right now.

They got to get them in the same room, in the first debate Biden didn't even look at Trump and he didn't do any debating. It was all just lines said directly into the camera with the intention of getting people riled up.
"You know you can't trust this man"
"You know he's a liar"
"You know he's a racist"
etc.
At one point, Biden started talking about covid through a rehearsed speech straight into the camera, a little later he was asked by Matthews specifically about masks, but he just started repeating the speech again before Matthews had to point out what he asked about.
If they're on through video, that'll be even worse and it won't even be reminiscent of a debate.

The first debate was such a childish shit show that they have reformatted it to cut off each other's mics when one person is speaking...so every topic will just be a rehearsed speech looking into the camera either way. Why they need to be standing next to each other?...makes no sense.

Because you don't have the risk of teleprompters being there, someone wearing a ear piece etc. It would be monitored by the opposing sides. Are you telling me that there is no way to hold a debate in huge auditorium without keeping two candidates safe? I mean c'mon man...
We have sports analysts working with plexi between them. We have schools reopening in atleast half the country (in person that is) with as many as 20 kids in a 1000sqft room, whereas we can't keep 2 adults safe in 20,000 sqft auditorium?

A debate format isn't dependent on being able to cut the other person off, but responding to and arguing against their opinion. Biden never responded to Trump, but instead just went on his speeches where he was allowed to lie heavily without any interference of the moderator, so Trurmp cut him off instead. Like when Biden said it was a lie that his son had received $3.5 million from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow, why was there no moderator to call him out on it, why did Trump have to do it himself?
Outside of when they said hello, did you hear Biden address Trump much, if at all? He didn't look at him, and constantly referred to Trump as "he" or "him".
Obama and Hillary at least both spoke to the person they were debating.

Secondly the doctors said he'd be out of the woods by the debate. Obviously the debate would be pending on physician clearance.

I don't care to rehash the fist debate, I'm just saying they are now cutting each person's mic off...so they will be asked a question and each will look into the camera and give their spiel without the other being able to speak. So why do they need to be standing next to each other for that?...Trump has back and forths with people on Twitter where he can't even see a face, he's used to it.

As raw said, teleprompter, ear piece. In this setup, Biden could much easier potentially both know the questions beforehand as well as have help to answer them.
Also, people needs to see that Trump talks to Biden, but Biden can't do the same.

In this campaign we've seen numerous examples of Biden doing whole scripted segments with journalists and celebrities from home.
We've seen Biden answer questions from his voters, pretending to be independents or undecided.
In the previous election, we saw the democrat campaign was given debate questions ahead of time.
But now, you want to create a setup where Biden could cheat easier than with anything, and to trust some debate commission? Is that the same commission, who thought that the moderator of Harris vs Pence should be the person who's writing Nancy Pelosi's book?
You're side is desperate to change the momentum...if I'm the Biden campaign, I say virtual debates or no more debates and kneel to run out the clock
I don't think the debates can change the momentum, it's about the information around what they talk about in the debates that are important. There's a big suppression of information going on and people have been convinced by 4 years of OMB to either not look or care.
Like over here in the other thread, where we have hand written notes from John Brennan, used to brief Obama on the Hillary campaign plan, to stir up a Russian interference scandal. It should be a huge eye opener to all the people who said that Trump was working with the Russians, but you're nowhere to be seen.

Financially, I am. Though my active income has taken a 20% hit, my passive income went from $400 a month to $3,200 a week (that's a 35x increase). Even in a recession, money doesn't disappear. Wealth transfers even more, actually. A recession is actually a perfect time to study new skills and/or find other sources of income.
This is the difference between being a Democrat and a Republican these days. Democrats just stay home and watch MSNBC and CNN, promote racism and OMB rhetoric through mainstream talking points, work or consider working for ANTIFA, and turn on victim status. They'll be crying more soon, we are talking about adults that are throwing child-like tantrums when government can't always to let them suck on their titties. On the other hand, Republicans know they have to adjust. They find new ways to make a living, they study, they work hard, they know how to be responsible adults.

Bingo, it really comes down with how well you can adjust. Depending on the government to accommodate people is always a big risk. I would argue though that it's an individual thing. Some individuals just seem more inclined to be always adjusting and learning new things. These people always seem to find a way, even if they have their ups and downs. Democrats and Republicans both cry a lot. You already mentioned the Democrats but Republicans constantly whining about unfair China or immigrants stealing jobs, etc. In the end, it's the same thing- not wanting to fix the actual problems, easier to blame something else, and not being able to adjust.

2016 proved that
2016 proved that you can get millions less votes and win with about 40 thousand of the right votes spread across 3-4 states in a country of 300 million. One third of one percent of voters in 3 states decided the election not the total support of Americans which is what’s polled and mostly what’s reported in general election polls. 2016 just let people who aren’t that into government see that minority rule is absolutely possible in America. They should have known it already if schools were decent but still....
Polls can be honest and still show the winner getting less votes. That’s exactly what happened. It’s not impossible to get 50 million less votes and be president. The system that decides the winner does not show public support.
And to make things worse both sides are so shook over this next election they are pushing local races to secure a path to winning a vote on faithless electors or by vote of the state houses which while unlikely....is not impossible.
There are states that can go blue and have a red run state board who decides who the house votes for president. There are plenty of things that show American support won’t always decide elections.
And both sides are working to make sure they could win without it.
The polls can be accurate and give you the wrong winner because our system is ****ed in a dozen ways.
Just wait till election night when trump seems to have like 290 points but 30% of democrats voted by mail and it takes a while to show.
Its gonna be a total train wreck. We are gonna hear about whoever won stealing this election or the rest of our lives. If it comes down to the Supreme Court the riots will be insane either way.....
This won’t be bush/gore. That whole thing is gonna be a footnote compared to the madness in 3 weeks.

This is all true, however it is also undoubtedly true that polls do under represent Trump’s actual level of support. This year even moreso than in 2016.
Whether that translates to another victory I have no idea.
But polls are indisputably unreliable when it comes to Trump.

I don't think you understand the reasons for the Electoral College, you might not even know them. But you've never understood much anyway, just like how your 20 years of non-stop posting on here has made you miss 98% of your own kid's life.

I read a thing last night on how even though most people support Biden most also say they believe their neighbors support Trump.
Wouldnt surprise me.
Most people who are responding to polls support Biden.
That doesnt mean most people overall.
You could have one soyboy in a subdivision answer his phone and declare pompously and with a heavy lisp that he is voting for Biden bc Orange Man is Bad! Meanwhile the 10 surrounding houses are avoiding the straw polls, but heading to the booth for Trump..

Even if I weren’t into history to have learned all that I’d have learned it 20 years ago when these discussions started here. Knowing how long I’ve been here you should know I was in Bush/Gore electoral discussions that were going on. The presidential election topic was in the nba forum in those days because there was no off the court. We were talking about that shit deep into the year right alongside AI for MVP topics.
Not that I think you had a real point to make anyway.

Im positive the gap isn’t as wide as the worst of the polls show but I’m also sure there are in fact more democrat voters in America. The 2018 midterms had I think the widest gap ever recorded. It was like 8 million extra democrats I think. Just comes down to exactly where they are.

There definitely seems to be more Democrat voters than Republican in terms of gross numbers. Altho counting the votes of illegals like TheMan it does make me question how dramatic the margin is among legal citizens.

also lol@thread title .. more like trump rejects ridiculous debate format .. so they wanted it to be a virtual debate so biden gets to read a teleprompter from his cozy couch while having a moderator who used to work for him lol if this was any other spineless republican, like say romney, they probably would've agreed to it

If one guy and like 20 of his family, friends, and hangers on have a virus why on earth would you setup a face to face anything you can do online?
Forget covid. I wouldn’t wanna be around a bunch of people with the flu or strep. Just...feels like common sense. Half the country is doing virtual when it’s likely all of them are healthy. But it’s irrational to do it when you know for a fact a whole group of people are infected?
You don’t need to fear covid to avoid that.
tpols
10-08-2020, 08:52 PM
Because it's fake news.
80+% of people are totally asymptomatic. If an obese 75 year old man who is suspected of numerous health conditions can beat it in 3 days, pretty much anybody could. It has a 99+% survival rate. At this point, you have to be severely naive to see it as anything but a political power grab, and hoax.
It's obvious Trump can control things better in person than online. He's a guy who grew up before all this stuff.
It's much easier for him to shit on somebody in person than over a Zoom meeting.

Im guessing a virtual debate probably makes it much easier for Biden’s team of morticians to create the illusion of him being healthy and coherent.
Trump obviously doesnt wannna do him the favor.

Strep...flu....a stomach virus...covid whatever it is?
It makes no sense to unnecessarily expose people when you know for a fact people there are infected.
In reverse it would be downright idiotic. If Biden and 25 people he was around had some condition we know is easily communicable it would be stupid to put the commander in chief into that room.
At some point you throw out the partisan shit and just look at it common sense wise.
If I know a guy im supposed to debate has diarrhea and so do most of the people around him...why would I...with an unbelievably busy schedule of public appearances....be there with him when I can do it from literally anywhere in the world and get my message out?
My mom is their age. I wouldnt send her into a room with people I knew for a fact were infected. Who cares if its 99% when youre talking about someone you love?
Gotta stop looking at everything left vs right. This is just common sense.
Im in a building 100+ thousand square feet right now. Tell me ____ for sure tested positive and got sick recently why would I go down to his area to tell him something when I can text him or call? Sure id live. But who feels like getting sick? I wouldnt go near you if I didnt have to if I knew for a fact you had the common cold.
This isnt some difficult call. Everyone stays away from the sick person if you KNOW they have a disease they can give you. Decent people dont even come near you. I get annoyed when people come to work sick. Stay your ass home. Why risk me being sick when you have sick time?
Drop the politics for once please. This isnt some outrageous ask.

But the point is this is all perfect timing. It's hilarious that anybody could see it as otherwise. Trump gets sick right when the debates start and he cant do them?
COVID hysteria starts right after the impeachment failure, and championed by democratic states?

Doing the debates is as simple as deciding to do it. There is no cant. He can do it as easily as all these kids are doing virtual learning.
And yes...I probably wouldnt get sick. But why would I risk it? Who wants to be sick with anything?
Why would I go anywhere I can call when I know that going puts me in close proximity with someone sick when I have a busy schedule? It just doesnt make sense. Forget politics. Its irrational.
Im not walking to the other end of this building to a sick guys work space no matter what specific condition he has. If I can get it....and can interact with him from here? Why would I?
Yall are really just skipping over common sense and finding a political reason to object.
In reverse it would be unthinkable to put the president in that situation. Hes the damn commander of the military. And an old man. Why allow even a 1% chance of trouble if you dont need to? The secret service would probably be pissed behind the scenes....

Not that I think the "debate" will matter much in the grand scheme of things, but...
According to CDC: "Available data indicate that persons with mild to moderate COVID-19 remain infectious no longer than 10 days after symptom onset."
Trump was symptomatic on October 2nd
Debate is scheduled October 15

Should treat it like the NFL is doing... test before the game, of negative you can play.

You people are overestimating the actual amount of shame of Republicans. And the arrogance to actual put a clown out like this and think he’s acceptable because you approved it.
Classic psychology. If it’s yours, it can’t be truly bad.
Trump is Republicans’ pet for now. They’ll put him down in February and pretend he never existed.
But anyway, Republicans are truly shameless. I don’t think anyone is lying to polls. Maybe some swing voters and independents but actual conservatives? They are gonna go down with pride.

If it was the reverse, I can guarantee these same fools would be calling Biden out for trying to put the president in harm's way with covid and every name in the book. That's why it's not an argument worth having. We will get nowhere and end up right where we began over and over again.
