That is true. The 1991-1998 Bulls' toughest comp wasn't even in the finals, it was the Knicks.

The closest we got to seeing a desperate Jordan/Bulls team during the title runs. The fact that nobody took them to a game 7 in their finals means we never saw their full potential. Jordan lived for big games, and his competition wasn't up for it.

It's truly a shame we can't time travel NBA teams/players for an all-time playoffs. We were robbed of a Kobe/Lebron finals, and Jordan never had to face Hakeem.

well technically no. 86 celtics are as tough as anyone and bad boys are pretty tough. beating is a different story but bron never beat the kd warriors. i would pick 13 spurs/16 warriors over any finals team or knicks or magic however

You can't compare teams in a 2-star vs 2-star format (90's) to a 3-star vs 3-star format (10's)

Lebron simply had his own big 3's and didn't face a talent deficit until 17', when he lost by record amount

Ultimately, it's easier to be 1 of 2 Finals-caliber teams with 3 perennial all-stars (heat/spurs and cavs/warriors), then 1 of many Finals-caliber teams because the standard was less (1 or 2 stars)

When people say that they mean the finals. 86' Celtics or the 17' Warriors? Both ATG teams but give me the Warriors. Anyway, it isn't the same to face a team in the finals and getting swept by them in the first round. The Bulls were cannon fodder in 85', 86', 87'.

Reggie miller and the pacers also took them to seven games in the ecf but ofc, we all know about his awful reputation during the postseason.

MJ's typical title run was like LeBron's current run, which LeBron made look easy. Play a bunch of okay-ish teams and just win. I mean the 90s Knicks? the Pacers? lmao Only good team he played during his runs from a historical perspective were the Jazz. And they were not THAT good.
