View Full Version : Whoop-dee-doo...Lebron just basically won a ring with a young prime Charles Barkley.

I hope Lebronites do realize that AD was just 26 when he joined the Lakers and dude is just barely hitting his prime for a true big (they have later primes than guards and typically higher production later in their careers than guards). Barkley was not even a true big and aged quickly in his 30's, so in a very real sense having Davis is even better than having a prime Barkley assuming Lebron/Davis are multiyear teammates. Let's say Davis stays healthy, he is set to dominate the league for most of the next decade. Look at the career metrics and trends right now.

Anthony Davis (career):
--------------
PER............3
WS/48......11
OBPM........12
BPM..........12

Compare that to Barkley (career):
---------------
Per............12
WS/48......13
OBPM.........8
BPM...........14

In the short term this looks good for Lebron, but the the time Davis's career is set and done people will see it for what it is -- Lebron teaming up with all-time great yet again, especially if Davis gets a few rings after Lebron which he will because it is the Lakers and the league will make sure of it. So pat yourselves on the backs for now, but Lebron will end up looking worse in the eyes of basketball historians. The knives will come out from the media after he retires also. Right now you can't touch Lebron because of Nike and the NBA political climate, but ultimately I predict the reaction to this type of shameless team hopping/stacking the deck by the league will be severe by fans and media alike. So congrats for now and enjoy while it's here. It will not last.

Barkley is a loser while LeBron is a champion.

Prime Barkly was like a Point-Powerforward...he be like running the break and finishing with power dunks, passed like guard and dirbbled like a SF. Davis doesn't do that. Barkley was also a better post player and had better moves and spins in the painted area he was Shaq-like % wise. He could hit from mid range and his 2-point FG% was like 61,62,63 and 64% on over 24 PPG taking even fewer shots than A.D. Barkley was also a much better rebounder than A.D. A.D is a better rim protector and 3-point shooter (cause of today's style of play).

Barkley dominated while his shots and rebound where all consted with physicallity allowed.

A young charles barkley in his prime never averaged below 10rpg in the postseason while ad had zero rebounds in the first half of some playoff bubble games this year.

Prime Barkley was top 3-5 player in the league for years. AD, great as he is, wasn't in anyone's top 5 prior to season's beginning. Or even prior to the playoffs starting a mere 2 months ago.

A 35 year old LeBron getting AD is like 1998 MJ getting Alonzo Mourning.

Bro, that's huge disrespect to AD...come one man. We are both big LeBron fans, but show some class.

When did Alonzo Morning do this on a deep playoff run? - 66.5 TS%, 29.6 PER, .284 WS/48, 8.7 BPM

AD was the second best player in the entire playoffs.

That's not true. LINK (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2usY3hJk_tc)

AD was considered top 5 by a lot of people when he was with the Pelicans, and he just put up a KAJ level title.

AD had better splits on higher volume than Lebron for the whole playoff run.

Was he though? Was he really being ranked ahead of LeBron, Durant, Curry, Kawhi, Harden consistently?

Jesus Christ you’re so ****ing stupid.

LeBron scored 27.4 points per 36 to AD’s 27.2. AD played more minutes that’s the reason he scored more. LeBron had a clearly higher usage percentage as well 30.4% to 27.8%

Woop de do, Kareem won a bunch of titles with Magic and vice versa, Kobe won a bunch of titles with Shaq and vice versa. It's almost as if all time greats often have all time great teammates. But for LeBron that's bad even though the top 10 all time has a bunch of guys with other top 10 or top 20 all time teammates.
