If you were in Los Angeles on Sunday night there was plenty of reason to celebrate as the Lakers beat the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to win the franchise’s 17th championship. The game on ABC delivered a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic while 5.60 million viewers watched the Lakers’ 106-93 victory in the bubble in Orlando.

The game matched a demo high in early Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings for the series and was even with Game 5. It had competition from NBC’s Sunday Night Football (3.2, 11.42M), which always dominates the night during the regular NFL season. Last night’s game, which saw the Seattle Seahawks pull out a 27-26 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, was down three tenths from last week.

Tuesday's Game 4 of the NBA Finals (Lakers-Heat) averaged a 4.4 rating and 7.54 million viewers on ABC, marking the highest rated and most-watched game of the series thus far. The previous marks were a 4.1 and 7.41 million for Game 1 last week.

Game 3 averaged a 3.1 rating and 5.94 million viewers. Those numbers made Game 3 the least watched and lowest rated NBA Finals game on record, according to SMW. That continues a poor trend for the 2020 NBA Finals. Prior to Game 3, the record for the least viewed Finals broadcast came during Game 2.

TV Ratings: Nuggets-Clippers Game 7 pulls in 5.2 million viewers

Friday's Celtics-Raptors second round NBA playoff Game 7 averaged 4.69 million viewers on TNT, marking the largest audience for any sporting event on cable since the NFL Draft in April. The previous high was 4.65 million for Lakers-Rockets Game 3 on TNT last week.

The game, which saw the Lakers post a 117-109 victory over the Rockets, peaked with seven million viewers.

Bad enough we have to witness the league shoehorn LeStiffArm into the finals... it had to the Lakers yet again? Yeah... predictable and boring. Who would have thought things would be different?

LeBron haters are reduced to talking about tv ratings now, even though every sport from hockey to tennis to football has suffered a ratings drop this year

The thread is not about Lebron, there were many games that didn't feature Lebron and ratings were low. Like Nuggets - Clippers game 7.

Probably because all the major sports going on at once, along with it being an election year and people more tuned into politics. I also feel like since streaming is so much more prominent now, a lot less people have cable than before
