2018 is the only one where AD was a MVP candidate, finishing 3rd like 94' Pippen, that is the comp year. The difference being Pippen got first place votes while AD did not (Pippen also got more second place votes). I don't think AD has ever gotten a first place vote in his career. The narrative is AD>>>Pippen. If so, AD's era>>>>>Pippen's if he can't get a first place vote and Pippen could have back then in several seasons.

That, if true, must mean--per MJ stans' own logic--MJ's era was really weak if a vastly inferior player could get 1st place MVP votes (someone has to get votes and I guess there weren't many other options...) then but a vastly superior player today can't.
