View Full Version : If a Finals loss (2nd place) is a blemish, is a first round (16th place) a skid mark?

Call me crazy but I'd much rather take 2nd place and a blemish over 16th place and a dirty skid mark.

Losing in the first round usually indicates that your team aint strong enough to contend for title(barring rare exceptions like top seed upset by 8th seed, ie. 2007), so theres nothing the star players can do. But if the team makes it to the finals, it implies that it is strong enough to contend but for some reason, they fail to win the title. In this case, the star players have to take the blames, they fail to lead a title contender to championship.

I'm so glad you said this. Ready to delete your account?

So when MJ loses, it's because his teammates are too weak
So then when he wins its only because of his teammates, aka Pippen.

Thanks :pimp:

Like we've been saying, No Pip, No Chip.

Lebron drags teams that have no business making the finals, to the finals. And faces lopsided competition

Several times, in the finals, he has faced bigger talent gaps than a typical 8 vs 1 seed.

So using your very own logic, lebron cant be penalized for losing to teams with enormous talent advantage (2007 spurs, 2014 spurs, 2015/17/18 warriors)

Would you agree?

If you're good enough to get to the first round, you're good enough to win.
Then you're in the second round. You're in, you're good enough to win.
3rd, same.

Then finals, same.

Sorry. Logic falls down.

One guy won 1 title in 11 years for the franchise that drafted him. Dirk was as good. Isiah was even better. The other guy turned a losing organization into a dynasty.

If you DELETED MJ's skid marks from his 1-9 panties and only focused on his 10 best years against LJ's best 10 years LeBron James would still have done more for all statistical categories

Kyrie's came when the game was tied with 1 minute left

the ray allen shot came after a heroic comeback by LeBron, down 15 in the 4th... headband game... one of the most iconic in sports history. thanks for bringing it up

Head band game! How could we forget game 6 2013 NBA Finals when LeBron had his 32/11/10/3/1 after being down 15 in the 4th

I am rewatching that game, wow. LeBron bullied Kawhi all night to the tune of 32 and blocked Duncan. LeGoat Thanks for the reminder Bawkish.

Ray Allen's shot came after a couple of bricks from Bron himself

which makes the clutch shot more important than any of Bron's heroics

Ray Allen's wide open 3 to tie the game isn't possible without Bron's heroics

One is impossible without the other, therefore Bron's heroics are factually more important

Nah.

Still time on the clock to get the offensive rebound after Ray Allen shot and get another 3 off.

1st round exit = skid mark (16th place finish)
Finals loss = blemish (2nd place finish)

Replace Lebron by MJ in the Heat/Cavaliers, he would've beaten the 2014 Spurs and 2015 Warriors, maybe 2018 Warriors too, and then the posters here will wonder why competition like Spurs and Warriors were too weak. Just because Lebron couldnt get it done, doesnt mean MJ couldnt.

Which part is factually inaccurate?

Why did you start asking "When did I compare Jordan to LeBron" as a response to a post that doesn't mention LeBron at all? Are you just going to improvise whatever theme you want to talk about out of thin air?
