Considering Westbrook is shorter, dealt with the same injuries, and supposedly more reliant on athleticism than Wade?

Maybe Wade was never that good?

Wade messed up in the knee in college. He had surgery to remove the meniscus from his left knee in 2002. It screwed him up constantly over the course of his career. And in 2012, he had to battled bone bruises and tendinitis.

He regrets it, but said the technology, medicine and mindset was different back then. Westbrook also had a similar injury, but he had his meniscus repaired and not removed.

He talks about it here:

"Wade cited Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, who earlier this year had his meniscus repaired but not removed, as taking the long run approach to such an injury. Westbrook needed another surgery this week because the Thunder said a loose stitch was causing swelling.

"When Westbrook had his injury, they kind of saved his meniscus," Wade said. "Mine was taken out, and that opens you up to having certain knee injuries and problems, so that's what I've had to deal with. We have a great training staff and we have great doctors. Whatever way you look at it, I'm going into my 11th season, there's lots of guys who haven't made it this far."

In the playoffs post 2011, Wade been mostly been playing with one knee. Sometimes he had to get it drain. He cited it here:
https://www.espn.com/nba/playoffs/2013/story/_/id/9412923/dwyane-wade-miami-heat-needed-knee-drained-play-game-7-finals

"
In an interview with The Associated Press, Wade revealed Saturday that his right knee pained him so much that he contemplated asking to play limited minutes in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, and that his left knee was drained and required about eight hours of game-day therapy just so he could play in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Wade also received platelet-rich plasma therapy late in the regular season to combat three bone bruises around his right knee, which was his biggest source of frustration and pain during the playoffs. Wade said two of the bruises healed, but a third -- directly under the kneecap -- remained a big problem, especially since that area was also affected by tendinitis.

...

Wade said the right knee pain was at times the second-worst thing he's dealt with, injury-wise, in his 10-year career, behind only the shoulder he dislocated in 2007 in an awkward collision with then-Houston forward and current Heat teammate Shane Battier.

...

"The toughest part of it is, you work all season to get healthy coming off of knee surgery," Wade said. "And when I finally got the way, everybody saw in my play that I was playing great, some of the best basketball in the role I have on this team. Then I get the bone bruises, and something I worked hard for was getting taken away, and I dealt with it for three months. It was disappointing, frustrating. It hurt. I was able to mask it some nights. Some nights, not."

He would talk about how his knee kept him off the olymics because it was swollen up like a coconut.

Basically, Wade made a mistake back in college which caused his knees to have many problems in the future. As ppl already notice, in Miami Wade in the RS was a stud. Then in the playoffs, dude was limping out there. Technology, medicine, mindset has improved since thing. Many ppl are concern about long term careers now. And a longer prime doesn't really mean you are better necessary. But that's subjective.

This. Also, I think winning the chip in his 3rd year decreased some of his hunger, because he was a very, very competitive player in his first years in the league. In the last seasons he was more concerned about living the celebrity lifestyle with Gabrielle Union than anything related to basketball.

Wade was atrocious

One of the worst 2nd options ever. Couldn't shoot, space the floor, or stay healthy

He was a disaster

Wade's peak was higher. I'd argue that he was a better player than MVP Russ for a while with LeBron. Much better defender. I don't know where this "Wade was bad for spacing" narrative comes from. Wade had huge gravity off ball. He's one of the best wings at moving off the ball in this era. Westbrook hardly moves off the ball anyways. I'm not going to give him extra credit for ballhogging his way to crazy stats
