JORDAN AND LEBRON
LEBRON AND JORDAN
The Saga Continues.

How would you guys build a team around these two?
Well for staters...I don't think the likes of Magic and Bird would make this team.

LeBron would be the point forward who is capable of creating/facilitating and scoring at will. He'll be running the plays.

How does this starting 5 sound?

(C) OLAJUWON - I was tempted to go with Shaq, just the thought of LeBron and Shaq running pick and rolls is scary and mouth watering, but Olajuwon was a better rim protector, defender, and had a jump shot. Further, "The Dream" would be in charge of anchoring my defense and he wouldn't clog-up the lane as much as Shaq would.

(PF) DIRK - Mr. Stretch-4 himself! He is quite arguably the shooting 7-footer in the history of the NBA. He will stretch the floor, which in return will enable James and or Jordan to attack the rim. Also, Olajuwon is no stranger to the stretch-4 formation. The Rockets basically invented the stretch-4 position. Why not Durant? He's played as a SF for almost his entire career, I think Dirk deserves it the most.

(SF) JAMES - No explanation needed. Superb vision. Simply put, the most versatile player of all-time.

(SG) JORDAN - GOAT, enough said. Superb mid-range shooting skills, the ultimate 2-way player.

(PG) CURRY - The greatest shooter of all-time who possesses great handling skills and vision.

History tells us that you have to surround James with great shooters. Dirk and Curry are two of the very best at that. Jordan's mid-range game was simply sublime and he could create his own shot and LeBron is a decent 3pt shooter nowadays. Essentially, four shooters are surrounding Olajuwon.

Defensively, Olajuwon, Jordan, and LeBron are 3 of the best defenders of all-time. Curry and Dirk were not so great defensively but something has to give.

What would you guys change?

It wouldn't work because of MJ. If it's not the Olympics he's just not going to pass that much and it would piss everyone else off.

Unlike other centers, Olajuwon would not demand the ball in every possession. Dirk can play the stretch-4 role and Curry doesn't need the ball either. LeBron will run the team and set up his teammates. He'll find MJ wide open looks.

You pointed out the main problem. Everyone on the team believes in unselfishness except for MJ. That's why it wouldn't work. That group would not get along.

Pippen and Jordan worked well. LeBron is an upgraded version of Pippen!

Depends on the era. In today's league, it's 4 shooters with a big who can shoot 33+% from 3.

Olajuwon could dominate the paint and a mid-range game.
Dirk took the stretch-4 to new heights
Jordan has an excellent mid-range game and can attack the rim.
LeBron can create plays and also attack the rim
Curry will have to work to free himself to drain it from anywhere.

Replace Dirk with Bird and I think this is set. Bird is a better rebounder and is a better passer. So, you might get abetter overall offensive output with him, and better highlights. He also played the 4 a lot in the early 80s.

Yes, but he is mostly considered a SF.

Is DIRK the weakest link?

Give LeBron the ball.

Give Jordan the GOAT defensive wing who is also an elite all around player, a GOAT supporting cast and a GOAT coach.

LeBron had the best SG in Wade and it wasn't enough. Now he's got the best big in AD (arguably the best player even). Will it be enough :confusedshrug:

Wade wasn't close to his prime and LeBron was BY FAR and UNQUESTIONABLY the best player in the Finals. Wasn't even close. The King shows up in the most important times.

2007-2010 Wade never got out of the 1st round
2011-2014 Wade had 4 straight Finals

Interesting

in 4 of 10 finals

this

Worst finals percentage after Wilt, and more finals losses than anyone "Top 10". Maybe AD can keep LeBron over .500? :confusedshrug:

Will anyone ever pass LeBron in FMVPs?

Give LeBron the ball.

Give Jordan the GOAT defensive wing who is also an elite all around player, a GOAT supporting cast and a GOAT coach.

So give Jordan a good defensive wing and Kerr, Paxson = goat cast

lol

Jordan had the weakest cast.. complete garbage and they only won rings because MJ was skilled enough to not kill the triangle - a system that allowed role players to thrive.. if he was an unskilled ball-dominator, the triangle wouldn't work and no one would know who Kerr was

Pippen had a strong cast with Jordan. It was Pippen's team the whole time. You just made me realize this

It never was Jordan's cast. It was Pippen's cast all along...
