Yay! A win for me!

I could honestly watch the NBA 365 days a year.

The season starting so soon after a championship is like nirvana.

Damn. Such a quick turnaround. As someone who always laments the end of the season and the 4 long months of no basketball that follows, I actually wouldn’t have minded a mid January start. I guess part of me is still on that championship high from the lakers chip. But it still seems sudden to cram the draft, free agency and preseason into the next 30 days. And we probably won’t get a parade in before the start of the season :(

But I ain’t complaining.

I'm looking forward to the new-found performances of the revamped bulls and nets teams. I hope they both won't disappoint.

Not a fan of a 72-game season. It will invalidate or perhaps skew the perception of all previous season records over 82 games especially if the NBA moves permanently to 72 games. They've been talking for years about reducing the number of games. I hope this is just a COVID thing.

I'm all for bringing more significance to each regular season game. The records are already skewed from a number of newly accustomed factors like rest and media attention

Do you think reducing the schedules does that? NBA regular season is simply never gonna be as relevant as the other pro sports. It's in the nature of the sport. Contenders can coast whether the season is 82 games or 65. Makes no difference.

The only solution would be to significantly reduce the amount of teams that make the playoffs. Like 4 teams each conference. But that will never happen.

It does by definition. It doesn't affect your contenders that much, but teams fighting for a playoff spot are impacted. The less back-to-backs, the less rest too. More stars facing off will lead to tighter matches

Silver would have to be insane to throw them in a bubble for 72 games. I think they are just playing in their own arenas but a lot of them will be empty, like the NFL is doing. I also heard they will only release the 1st half of the schedule because they want more flexibility to reschedule virus games. NFL is packing 15-20k in some arenas like Tampa Bay, nba better do this and not go the paranoid path of zero fans in every arena.

The surge in cases plus Biden likely winning means prepare for lockdowns

Players wanted this too so they could go back to their summer offseason schedule. It's cut short not because of covid but because of the late start. Everyone wants to go back to the old schedule, this is the step in that direction.

Yeah that sucks. And not to mention riots might come anytime after the winner of the potus election is declared. Still I'm looking forward to the next season. Having that said, I'm sad toronto may not be able to play at their home arena due to current events.
