we all knew donald trump would have no dignity if he lost, but wow this race isn't even close and practically every world wide outlet is condemning him for his baseless claims of voting fraud. you would think some trump supporters would have respect in themselves to go out gracefully but nevertheless here we are, exactly were we all knew we would be. conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory...

He is leaving the white house the same way he came in. On the day he was inaugurated, there was the voter fraud conspiracy accusations ON AN ELECTION HE WON! He had a thorough investigation on 2016 election voter fraud that Pence ran for almost 2yrs, finding nothing notable and disbanding the team.

That doesn't even include his meltdown on the inauguration crowd size.. 2 conspiracy theory accusations on the very week he took office. He is leaving the same exact way.

his twitter outrage the past few days claiming victory early, to stop the counting, to keep the counting but only in certain states he's losing. wow. it just shows he's a trying to kill democracy. he should be held accountable for his lies. it's extremely dangerous pumping nonsense into his low iq followers that believe whatever he says.

There was never a silent majority obviously.

There have been more democrats than republicans for a while.

They have only had the most votes in a national election once in the last 32 years.

From 1988 to now? 2004 is the only year they got the most votes. Clinton got more than Bush and Dole(no doubt with an assist from Perot), Gore got more than Bush, Bush got more than Kerry, Obama got more than McCain and Romney, and Trump got less than Clinton and Biden.

Kerry in 04 prevented the clean sweep of over 3 decades.

Now I’m sure some midterms were different because of the lower turnout without national races. I suspect republicans had a blowout in the Contract With America year(94?) and some others. But the most dominant years there were democrat too. 2018 is the widest margin in votes for one party over another in American history. Like a 9 million vote advantage.

Hold a national election more democrats will generally show themselves....then republicans forget it happened and go back to thinking they are some kinda sleeping giant.

The republican base of old white men is always awake. They don’t sleep. Americas sleeping giant politically is always the young voters and minorities who if they come out are unstoppable.

Republican victory nationally requires American apathy and a dislike for both candidates may be the lesson to take from the last several decades if Biden takes this one.

Nobody cares about Biden. People just hate Trump. Two equally hated or annoying candidates keeps republicans in play.

I don’t hate him any more than I hate Kanye West or Carrot Top. It’s just laughable to have a joke along those lines as the president. Generally speaking I don’t need the Macho Man or any other buffoonish character near that position. They are fine in the realm they exist. No need to crossover.

trump did a great job energizing his base but biden was always going win the popular vote handily. 5mil is an underperformance based on the election forecasts. Trump's leadership may have energized republicans but we havent seen a divide like this overall for awhile. higher turnout is mostly a good thing but does mean less undecided voters so likely more polarization.

Personally, I think the way he dealt with covid was a disaster and that was the no1 issue for people who voted against him.

Jesus dude... how do you do it? Trump's older brother died at 40. He had all the same advantages. Trump has soared to heights far beyond his dad... the man is literally leader of the free world while his pops was just another rich real estate guy. There's been many thousands of those people... there's only been 45 USA presidents. And to top it all off he was the first president to actually tell the truth about things instead of being a sooth saying, political bullshitting puppet hack like most of them have been. Lol I probably know more about Trump than you do. He's definitely a fascinating individual, to be able to continually fail his way up. Read the book his niece wrote, she goes into great detail about who Trump is as a man. I know, I know, she's probably "fake news" to you but hey it is what it is. It's a good read.

His older brother died at 40 due to complications of alcoholism. He was an alcoholic because of his father. Trump Sr berated Fred his entire life because Fred had no interest in following in his father's footsteps. Donald saw this, wanted daddy's love, and spent his entire life trying to earn his father's love. He never got it though. Sad, really.

Anyway, fvck Trump. :oldlol:

He’s an absolute fraud like every national politician. It’s required. You can be real in the house in some rigged district your party cant lose. That’s where the ultra left and tea party right live. National level? A normal person is gonna have something that alienated too much of the populace to win. He’s a social liberal and fiscal conservative. His views on abortion and likely religion would be off putting to the right wings base and his views on money would make him hated by the left. Add that to being a downright scumbag he had to pick a side to pretend to be and a scumbag loudmouth has a lot more room to play with as a Republican who can play up anti PC culture and get in with the southern rednecks he actually hates.

So in his 70s now he’s ultra pro life, hates liberals, and all that....to fool the right. He’s an absolute fraud. Donald Trump if he could be honest probably isn’t that far from me. But you talk enough shit people will think you’re being real because it’s controversial and what they wanna hear.

Its just manipulation of the simple minded.

Theres no such thing as an honest president. Trump, Obama, or whoever. They are all closer to centrists than the left or the right and just have to lie to get enough votes to win.

If you think a president has ever told you the truth about what he thinks you’re a moron. They all tell you as much of the truth as their current affiliation allows. The actual truth is a language none of them speak. But they can BS enough so the gullible think “THIS one tells it like it is!” and it’s hilarious watching it work.

You truly think 10 million more people voted for Biden over Obama, huh?

I mean, it's one thing if Biden had enormous amounts of energy coming into this election, which he didn't.

It's also one thing if he ran on a platform that was coherent and provided the American public with something better to look forward to. But he hasn't.

So your honest belief is that roughly 25 more million people came out to vote this time around than in 2016? Is that what you're telling us?

how is that even hard to believe?...I've been saying for pretty much 4 years now that this election would crush voter turnout records.

no one cared about politics when Obama was in office...Jay Leno could walk the streets and ask people simple questions like "who is the current Vice President?" and people would be lost without an answer.

Just look no further than here in ISH...the OTC transformed into a politics section when Trump came. People who couldn't care less about politics are suddenly on a side.

How can people turn out to vote and vote for Joe Biden when they never turned out for one of his rallies or press conferences? Harris had the least amount of votes during the Democratic primaries too. Meaning she was the most unpopular candidate on the Democrat side. And you want us to believe 80 million people voted for that ticket? As Joe Biden says, c'mon man! You expect us to believe the energy level that Biden had going into the election matches up with the vote total for him??

Any fool could see the momentum Trump had going into 2020. His rallies, the amount of newly registered Republican voters. His numbers were expected.

And any fool can see how crazy it sounds that with all that momentum, a senile Biden who would have 20 people show up at his rallies could conjure up 15 million more Democrat votes than in 2016.

If so, who were they? You can't look at Blacks and Latinos cause Trump got more of their vote this year than in 2016. We all know college kids don't go out to vote and most certainly aren't going to mail anything. So who are these 15 million? Where did they come from?

Even a heavy red state like Texas had largest turnout in history. Republicans run Texas.. It doesn't mean those votes were all also mass fraud.

Wrong.

"Our calculations, based on votes counted as of November 18, suggest that 52%-55% of voting-eligible young people, ages 18-29, cast a ballot in the 2020 presidential election. Using the same methodology and data from a week after the election in 2016, we had previously estimated that youth voter turnout in 2016 was 42-44%."

10-11% increase in young voter turnout.

Again....assuming all 11% voted for Biden. Plenty of young Conservatives out there that are not brainwashed by the media.

Turnout was highest in over a century since year 1900 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_turnout_in_United_States_presidential_electi ons) when McKinley/TeddyRoosevelt ticket won.. 66.5% turnout this year (https://www.statista.com/statistics/1184621/presidential-election-voter-turnout-rate-state/), 73.2% in 1900

Over half of all voters under the age of 30 voted in the 2020 elections, a record figure, according to data from the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University.
The surge in turnout greatly benefited President-elect Joe Biden, who won this demographic by 24 points (60%-36%) over President Donald Trump.

How can people turn out to vote and vote for Joe Biden when they never turned out for one of his rallies or press conferences?

Youre just gonna keep telling yourself rally size matters forever despite all evidence aren’t you?

Only hardcore voters go to a rally. Most voters don’t care that much. Only enough to show up when it counts. I’ve not been to a political rally off the top of my head since my mom drug me to one for Jesse Jackson in I believe 1984. I’ve never missed a vote though.

I don’t even know anyone who has ever mentioned a Joe Biden policy to me. And I mean ever....I’ve never heard anyone speak on his plans other than trump voters talking about higher taxes.

People didn’t vote for Biden. People voted to get rid of Trump.

And considering the democratic majority in national races anyway? Add in some hate votes and a youth voting drive? Of course Biden would do big numbers. The key to big numbers is getting normal non voters out. That’s how Obama had the all time record in 08 that stood till Trump polarized most of the nation.

People care more than I’ve ever seen. It just isn’t about Biden. It’s shutting up Trump trolls.

Thats why I think a Republican wins in 2024. Two normal politicians? Democrat voters don’t care enough usually.

No Trump to whip up everyone you win with low turnout which is always the Republican tactic. There’s a reason democrats win the more people vote. The right is the minority. Just a loud one.

Yea I don't know why some trump fans can't realise there are that many young voters who have no idea about anything other than their hate for trump, even no idea about their reasons for hating trump. Just talking to people will get you to realise how many people just hate him because they've been told they should. So more than likely they voted against him.

I meet so many more people here is Aus and I'm assuming it similar there, that have a rabid hate for a guy for reasons they can't seem to answer compared to people who can have a legit conversation.

Honestly, idk. Would obv depend upon who gets the nom, if Biden is still even running in 2024, how the country's doing etc. But considering the Republicans have won the popular vote just once in the last 8 elections, I think just statistically they're going to be at a slight disadvantage heading into a presidential election. Bush won by the narrowest margin imaginable in 2000, and honestly even if he won by a healthy margin in the electoral college, Trump's win was semi fluky in the way he very narrowly won Pennsylvania, Michigan & Wisconsin.

But granted I don't see a Clinton or Obama waiting in the wings for the Dems anytime soon :lol And Biden is not remotely an inspiring candidate, so we'll see. But I think generally speaking the Republicans are going to have a more difficult time winning presidential elections when they lose the popular vote by millions of votes every time

Oh, ok, I'll just take you at your word on that :lol Pretending only one side has extremely uninformed voters and not the other makes you look laughably biased and completely discredits your opinion on the subject

It's not gonna happen but it would be hilarious if the Republicans were successful in overturning the will of the people...Trump and the GOP would be so reviled by a clear majority of the American people and the world at the obvious attempt to usurp the will of the people that it could spell the end of the Republican Party, it would be the decided minority party for the foreseeable future.
