Apparently Phoenix is proposing a deal around Rubio and Oubre for Chris Paul.
Going all in.
Dunno if this is a great move. I'm high on Oubre but I realize not everyone else is.
Throw in picks and no way the Thunder say no.
Ain't no defence on the Sun's backcourt if this happens, however.
Interesting move.

Chris Paul can't still defend?

Old, midget ass Chris Paul and Devin Booker in a backcourt?
Not built for defence.

I take it if I were okc even if the pick attached isn’t worth much. Both oubre and Rubio are very movable. Lot of playoff teams would have interest in oubre. A few teams like clips and bulls could have interest in Rubio

Paul certainly still defends better than the matador Rubio and can hit an open shot and layups and doesn't leave you scratching your head with some of his passes.

PointGod, Booker, Mikal and Ayton?
That's a top 5 team in the West
CP3 is still easily a top 15 player in the league, he would be a possitive edition to any roster

To make this trade Sun's would have to be thinking they have a chance at a championship.
The assumption is Paul stays healthy and plays at the level he did this year for the next 2.
Respect to him for the standard he played this past season but can he keep it up?
Suns looked on the up last season and awesome in the bubble.
If you gonna give up Oubre and Rubio you have to think they could get a better deal than this that gives them more longevity and garuntees for a young up and coming team.
Like I said you would do this deal if you legitimately thought the Sun's had a shot at the title.

they must think they are tired of ping pong balls and want to make the playoffs

Some of these GM's are so dumb. Including the Suns', apparently.

This move would clearly be to try to keep Booker there instead of him walking. Unfortunately for the Suns, this would put them into mediocrity where they don't get a lotto pick but also get knocked out first or second round every year.

This trade makes the Suns a second-tier contender. Paul is a winning player. I realize he's had some big playoff blunders, but he's a winning player. I don't see how you could think back to those Rockets-Warriors series and think otherwise.
You add Paul to this Suns roster while losing nobody meaningful for them except Rubio (and Paul is only a pure upgrade over Rubio in every respect, except possibly where chemistry is concerned, but I think Phoenix's players are ready to be serious), and that's a serious squad.
I'm surprised to see the Suns willing to pay up for Paul. Their whole problem is they're cheapskates. They would have been a dynasty had they been willing to spend money in the mid-2000s.

There are like 10 guys making this kind of money now. It's no longer outlandish. If you don't like the one you have, you can just flip him for another one. (Or, Kevin Love and a 10m player. Whatever.) Besides, only 2 years left on the deal. Next year it's a gigantic expiring contract; you might be able to flip him for an unhappy star.

This will be his 4th team in 4 years. Looks like CP3 is about to retire a journeyman without a ring.
Also, apparently OKC has become a 1 season of rest team for veteran ring chasers. First Paul George plays there for a single season then leaves and now CP3.

This. I don't know if he will get his chip or not, but it's a little bit sad to see a player of that calibre bounce around half the Western Conference teams.
Looks like every winning team wants him in their roster.

That's actually insane.

True. It's just funny there were a number of them expressing their own interests in acquiring him but in the end, it seems the suns will take the last laugh.

Wut? Literally no one would trade a star for 1 year of CP3 at ~$45M. :oldlol:
That being said, CP3 is going to be the 3rd highest paid player in the league next season. John Wall is up there as well and with hindsight, his contract is terrible as well.

Scotto: If Chris Paul falls through, Fred VanVleet is a guy Phoenix has interest in (https://*********.com/2020/11/12/nba-trade-talks-free-agency-and-extension-rumors-with-michael-scotto-and-yossi-gozlan/) depending on how things shake out on the trade market.

Wonder why every team that has Rubio wants to get rid of him? :lol

In still holding out for Wall to come back healthy. The achilles put him out, but he had other nagging injuries he was playing through at that point. I'm cautiously optimistic that he will come back looking better than he did in the year before his major injury.

Lol this shit again? Rubio played good, was a good locker room presence and was a good fit for the Suns in general, but obviously CP3 is just on a different level. Like no shit a "great" player is better than a "good" player. Does that make it a disrespect to Rubio? No. We love Rubio in Phoenix, and if we can't get an upgrade for a reasonable price then I'd happily go into next season with him still on the roster.
But we all know you're just a hater and I don't even know why. What did Rubio do to cause you to carry so much hate for him for multiple years.

i'd be good with it if Gallo is attached to the trade as well. we'd seriously be a contender at that point. people will shocked by how good Book can be.

Had to watch the Rubio shit show for 2 years. That's not enough? From 4 guys spacing the floor around Rudy to Rubio being left wide open because he can't hit a shot. Layups are an adventure. Throws some of the most head scratching passes you'll ever see. Matador defense... Then last season back to 4 guys spacing the floor around Rudy and one of the best offenses in the league. He never made any sense. He makes little sense for anyone that wants to win as a starter. He plays with a lot of energy. Should be coming off the bench

Of course. You want every single star player to be 100%. However, Wall has had 3 major injuries, if I'm not mistaken. Doesn't look promising.
