I don't care for the politics of COVID but a lockdown is stupid

Sorry if my post wasnt clear, I am definitely not trying to say science will prevail :oldlol:

I am saying that just like with the response to 9/11, the majority of the sheeple and NPCs who are currently cowering in their basements and begging the government to take away everyones constitutional freedoms are going to pretend that they were always skeptics in 5-10 years when it becomes undeniable that the response has been vastly more damaging than the crisis itself.

My neighbor died of Covid, my great aunt almost died, and my son had to be taken to the ER with breathing issues at the beginning of the pandemic.

Just because you've been kept safe (and you can thank your elected officials for preparing Portland), doesn't mean this is a fvcking hoax or people are overreacting. This is typical conservative mentality: if it doesn't affect me, it can't be that bad!

I never said the virus isnt real, and my condolences for any loved ones you have lost (seriously).

Plenty of innocent americans died in 9/11 attacks... but that doesnt mean the Iraq war or patriot act were justified.

Anyway I have lost quite a few loved ones over the past few years too, not to covid but to cancer, ALS, and opiate overdoses. Cancer kills ~500k americans every single year, and yet you dont see me out here trying to force people/companies to stop using carcinogens, or trying to force people to hide in their homes until carcinogens can be eliminated from society. My experiences with death are part of the reason why I think its so important for people to avoid letting fear of covid dictate their life... we all have a limited amount of time on this earth and life is too precious and fleeting to hide in the basement from a virus with a CFR of 1% and a IFR of 0.1%

1.5 million will die with COVID this year (median age above life expectancy). The world goes mad.

We've had roughly 90 million infections with COVID this year in the US and 0.5 million hospitalizations (less than flu). $16 trillion spent, liberty robbed from billions, & obviously not worth it.

Washington DC has been talking about another stimulus. If it happens, then it'll look similar to the last one - Trillions will be spent, but only ~3% will go directly to the people as those "free money" checks. Rest will be micromanaged by Washington DC.
