I've always wondered, does anybody have an idea?

I Know Terrell Owens sold his NFC Championship ring a while back for a couple hundred thousand. I'm pretty sure the rings are worth a lot.

I'm not sure. I think they are bought from a company called Jostens which has a website. You could look up how much Mercury Mars sold his NFL championship ring for back in the day, which might give you a price range.

the estimated value is $15,000. but the sentemental value is alot more. if you have a legend like tim duncan, shaq, magic johnson, larry bird or michael jordan the value goes up substantially.

why would any athlete ever sell it?
the money they earn makes the $15,000 feel like scrub change.
unless that athlete probably blew all his money..

how could an athlete just sell away his championship ring? i mean i understand if you're going through some rough times, you're broke and everything so you're trying to get some $$$. but other than that, i don't see how. it's basically a symbol of the work you've put into trying to win that championship.

but to someone like darko it probably wouldn't mean shat to him.
a ring means a lot more if you are at least the top 5 contributer of a team..
if you just sat at the bench, it'd be kinda awkward to recieve that ring.

I remember a Rick Reilly article in SI once that talked about how much a lot of athletes hated wearing them because they were so bulky and cumbersome. They just collect dust in a trophy case.

I was watching tennis today and they said that Billy Jean King gave away most of her wimbeldon trophy's just because she thought they made "nice little gifts".
