View Full Version : The Bucks are too good to beat now, they will win the title and sweep the Lakers

I am genuinely surprised by how quick the Bucks made 2 major trades happen. They gave up some draft picks for Holiday, and nothing for Bogdanovic. This should be more than enough to convince Giannis to stay, the only risk is that if he somehow leaves the team will be stuck without draft picks for a few years(though the Nets have shown that, a competent FO can manage that and quickly rebuild a playoffs team).

As a Nets fan, I am quite pessimistic about the next season after the Bucks move, they are just too good with the starting line-up and all the players fit perfectly well together. It will take a major injury to stop this team, but unlike the Warriors team they dont have injury-prone players. If we dont trade for Harden, the team aint talented enough to compete against them. If we trade for Harden, the team lacks depth to compete against them. Either way, I dont see any chance for us beating this upgraded Bucks.

But honestly speaking, who else can stop this superteam barring injuries? They will just breeze through the regular season and playoffs, the Heat wont be lucky again if they match up against this Bucks. I can honestly see them sweeping Lakers and Lebron for the 3rd time in his career, this is a real possibility. The season has finished before it even starts, but for me I am just happy enough to see KD and Irving play together. Be it a ECF appearance, 2nd/1st round exit, nothing matters anymore in front of the emergence of a new superteam.

Or two guys will get hurt and they'll be signing randos off the street to suit up.

This a team starting their chemistry over from scratch with huge pressure. Jrue is injury prone, and they are sunk without him.

The Bucks are better than the 17 Warriors, they are a 74-77 wins team if this aint a shortened season. But considering it may have only 72 regular season games, they will likely win 66-67 games instead.

Who the hell is on the bench for this team? They'll probably have to use d-leaguers in the rotation for the regular season.

They will get smashed to shit.

Holiday/Giannis combo is absolutely not even close to unguardable. People forget Holiday had a hard time fitting in with FREAKING AD. It took Rondo take over the usage and adding a flaming hot Mirotic to make the playoffs.

Mirotic, a Bogdanovic level guy, actually better, flamed out Milwaukee in 2019. Their system is too easy to guard schematically. They need a guy who can make loading up and over committing a bad move. You have to be smart, be able shoot, and pass at the same time. Not Holiday. Not Bogdan.

La would bitchslap them, wall off Giannis, and expose Holiday lack of high level skill over the last 3 or 4 games of the series.

i like this move more than others, bogdan's spacing is valuable and jrue's been healthy for a few years and on paper a lot better than bledsoe in the playoffs and a better shooter. Still they're not unbeatable. bos and mia are still very good. Brooklyn is ridiculous if they pull off harden and already very talented though I'm not that high on them. masai is always ready to make moves. The West is loaded right now

jrue and bogdan are actually worse shooters than what they traded away

their offense will get worse an their bench which carried them all season long is gutted

They're not that much different than they were.

Imagine a Nets*-Bucks matchup, for example, and the Bucks losing. Bucks fans will say Giannis was outnumbered 3 to 1. So what's changed?

At the end of the day the Bucks community will still say that Giannis needs a star running mate.

As I said in the other thread, they are a 2nd round exit AT BEST. This team is just good not great. If Jimmy and Bam play anything like before, they will knock em out. New look Nets will knock em out. Celtics would. Even the 76ers have a decent chance to knock em out. You are on glue sir...

LOL, the Heat nearly swept them in the 2nd round and Jrue Holiday from the no-playoff Pelicans is supposed to turn it all around and make them win the finals?

Those 2 aren't gonna be enough. They'll get out of the east probably but theres a couple teams in the west that would beat them.

The Bucks improved a lot on paper... but everything about it still needs validation on the court. I expect them them NOT to be as good as last season in the REGULAR season, but I am expecting them to be BETTER in the PLAYOFFS.

Bucks still have to fill out the roster, but they made solid moves to at least entice Giannis to stay which is two fold. You convince him they'll make the moves to be competitive and improve and you give them a better chance to win at least on paper.

And the warriors need another addition to beat the Lakers... Curry/Klay already proved inferior to Kyrie/Lebron, so AD/Lebron will destroy them

Unless he joins a 73 win GS-esque team like the Snake did, no team is winning a title with Giannis as it's best player.

It helps Giannis more because Middleton doesn't have to be the #2 all the time. They have two other guys who can be that now. Maybe like a 2004 Pistons but with a star.

Freeman

A team with injured stars will almost never win championships anyway, same could be said of every team in league. Against Miami, both Giannis and Bledsoe missed multiple games with injuries, and that can happen to anyone. Milwaukee’s bench for the coming season will consist of a couple of quality remaining bench players, a couple of new second round draft picks on the deep bench, along with a number of aging but productive veterans playing happily for the minimum in hopes of winning a championship. Because their bench depth will still be substantially weakened compared to the past couple of years, their regular season win-loss will be less-dominant, but there is little doubt that come shorter-rotation playoff time, if injuries not a problem, they will have significantly upgraded. Fear the Deer.

No team with Giannis on it is “just good.” He gets more dominant each year, and his one weakness (shooting, obviously, but his numbers there improve every year too) is now compensated for. LeBron gets a little older each year. Sure, there are a lot of other really good teams and great players in the league. So what? If healthy come 2021 playoff time, I’d pick the Bucks against any of them over the course of a series. If not healthy, there is no team that I’d bet on to win it all.

Freeman

LeBron, as great as he still is, gets older each year. Giannis gets even better each year. And he’s already won league MVP last two years in row, playing low minutes, in fact. We all can only hope to have the pleasure of seeing them go at each other in the 2021 NBA finals.

You hit the nail on the head... what backup PG do they have ??? Mason .. not for a run.
If they land Rondo.. or make another splash , can't see it happening , they will have to fill out roster with vet minimum's

Perhaps the only way Giannis can win a title is to play with LeBron.

I don't feel great about him on his own. He's like a giant James Harden.

The Bucks' proposed sign-and-trade for Bogdanovic has hit a snag, and Bogdanovic will now enter restricted free agency Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

This is somewhat of an unprecedented situation, as the Bucks appeared to believe they had a deal to acquire Bogdanovic, who clearly was not on the same page. Woj reports that Bogdanovic will now enter free agency when the NBA's moratorium is lifted Friday with the goal of signing an offer sheet or seeking another sign-and-trade scenario. For the time being, Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova and D.J. Wilson will return to Milwaukee.

I'm not sure how "great" Jrue Holiday is. They have lost significant depth now trading Bledsoe and Hill while Mathews may depart via free agency. They also havent been able to get to the finals the past two years despite being the "best" eastern conference team. Its going to be fun to watch! I still worry about Giannis being able to take over playoff games.
