After his legendary playoffs run, he will have more hype and would have gained confidence. He created awareness that its not just stats that make a player valuable. If he leads the Heat to first seed in the East, he should win it.

No. People hype up his 40 point games then ignore when he drops 12 in a loss the very next lol

Having an incredible playoffs run doesn't mean he is going to be as good as that for the rest of his career. Kawhi Leonard or Dwayne Wade come to my mind. They hit their peak at a finals' or championship run and they never kept playing at that level. In this case, I don't think he is even interested in the MVP, to be honest, Jimmy Butler looks the type of player who doesn't bother about personal accolades and is more concerned about team success.

Nah... Heat ain't finishing 1st seed. Therefore he won't win it.

The best player on the team with the best record always has a shot. I don't think it will happen for Butler though.

Doubt it. Anything is possible. Rose won it as like the 5th best player in the league that year (LeBron, KD, Dwight, CP3 imo)

You think Rose was better than Kobe, Wade and Dirk in 2011?

D-Rose was a beast in 2011, I think people forget how good he was. He had a better season than all of those mentioned. There's a difference in being a better player or having a better season.

Heat could have the #1 seed but Bam would be more likely to win MVP out of anyone on the Heat because Butler's not a very ball-dominant player in that Heat system, the Finals numbers are a result of Bam & Dragic's injuries, he's not that guy. He looked done after having to carry that MVP type of a workload for a couple games.

I was on this forum with this same opinion at the time :confusedshrug:

No chance. Because of one good series, he's going to win MVP? How about some of his games in the Boston series? Duds.

Jimmy is good and every team would prob want him but he didn’t have a legendary playoff run by any means. Just the finals

Butlers good and has a lot of impact but Heat would need to finish as the top seed and thats not gonna happen

Hasn't he sat out half the season already?

We know how much everyone HATES players missing games when it come to award winning criteria.

If that becomes the case, then there's a big chance the teats will lose earlier in the playoffs before they even reach the finals.

Unrelated to OP, but in reference to some comments itt, Rose was the correct choice for MVP in 2011. He was special that season in an MVP kind of way.

Per 36 minutes:

James Harden (Nets)
24ppg 8.4rbs 10.7ast 1.2stl.
Def win shares #40. Real +/- #7

LeBron James
26.7ppg 8.4rbs 8.4ast 1.1stl.
Def win shares # 2. Real +/- #1

Keep dismissing LeBron. Grown men gonna cry when he lifts that MVP

This is the year if Miami get the #1 seed. and they are candidates.

He is massively overrated. He plays with heart and he is getting respect for that other than that ''He is not IT''

Lavine or STFU!

It is a little premature. Jokic > LaVine and STFU!

Joker is posting 29ppg 14.3 rpg 4.5 apg on 65.9% Without Murray again. En route for another MVP year.

Just heart? There is no aspect of basketball at which he doesn't excel.

nope. so many better players out there and i doubt the heat will finish first. steph has a good shot at winning it, could have had it last year too.

He can win it while not making it to the playoffs if klay doesn't play this season.
