Boston wanted too much. Not sure Indiana wanted to give him 30 million either but he might have taken less to play for them. Sounds like they could deal Rozier/Zeller or stretch Batum. Boston won't necessarily have to be involved.

This signing is amazing ! Lamelo is the next iverson because of this and I can’t see a better place for Gordon Haywood to thrive( look good ) but also lead . Jordan is banking on lamelo new age chuck style to do what iverson new age crossover and 1 style did to him :oldlol: really think about it . Nice move

The Bucks and Brooklyn are looking like the prime 2 picks with Philly and Miami as dark horses.

Boston seems to be falling asleep right now. Ainge has a bad problem of stock piling talent and trying to "wait" out superstar primes.

I think Boston is fine .. they got rid of of Gordon who clearly didn’t fit that team at all . Celtics are too young and scrappy right now but they clearly all want to get better as a team individually

It's hard to say no to 120 mil. We fans can say we would rather be in winning situations all we want but we've never been in a position to understand and truly feel what that kind of money means. Having kids and some relatives that depend on me from time to time I can see why you don't say no to money. I wish I could do for my family the kinds of things he'll be able to do.

wasn't 100% in the playoffs. Career high in rebounds, offensive and defensive, career highs in shooting across the board. One of his best years

Not sure why people dislike the signing . I actually like his game and think it’s one of the most if not THE most “ clean cut “ in the nba . Lamelo is gonna come in shooting from everywhere and eventually from half court because that’s what his fans are going to want . 3 point % means nothing to this kid if he’s shooting halfcourt shots after every quarter and honestly I want to see it too just to end the % game era . If anyone can remember 90s Jerry stackhouse . Very clean cut game also , picked his spots , never over dribbles , and very efficient all over the floor . Made it very easy for young iverson to learn to find the spot too . Same will happen with lamelo and Hayward

OK well I was one of the people clowning him about opting out, so I guess I'll eat my crow on this one.

Still though, is this the worst FA signing in history? I feel like the only thing that possibly saves it is that it's the Bobcats so it's not like they have stars lining up to take that money.

There's been much worse signings because Hayward's very good and some players have sucked

Yeah, he played well last season. Unlucky injuries just kept getting in the way of his season. He also could have been putting up bigger numbers on similar efficiency if he had wanted to. He's clearly a better and more polished offensive player than a Jaylen Brown, but he's also extremely unselfish and team oriented where as anytime Brown touches the ball it almost always ends up in a shot attempt. Aside from the massive paycheck, a big reason Hayward probably signed with the Hornets is he's now the definitive best player on the team they will play through and likely has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove after the debacle that was his time in Boston. I could easily see him putting up 20-22ppg this upcoming season on good efficiency. He certainly didn't sign to win as being a low seed is about the best he can hope for likely throughout his time there. Not really sure what the point of this was by the Hornets, but who ever knows what Jordan is doing.

30mil/yr is an overpay but whatever but 4 yrs just hurts for a 30 yr old with some bad injury luck and not the direction cha should be going for. hopefully this is some weird s/t with rozier and not waiving batum because 9 mil of dead cap for 3 yrs is disastrous for a team that should be looking to take on bad contracts for assets even with hayward

Embers
11-21-2020, 09:21 PM
I dont think he was really 30 mill good pre injury, nevermind post injury

Charlotte seem to make the same mistakes over and over again without learning. Commit to draft, take a flakey pick, sign bum on huge money. Rinse and repeat

This was the year for them to go all out on a All Star I think. Should have made Westbrook a number 1 target, kissed some ass. moved Rozier and some picks and got it done

lol Not even close. John Walls alone is 10 times worse. Horford? He's basically washed. Hayward isn't worth 30 million, but he'll have his best season since 2017 and put up 20-22ppg (on good efficiency), 6rpg, 5apg while playing his usual solid defense. As long as he stays healthy I'm sure he'll play at an all star level. He definitely could have been doing more on the Celtics this past season for sure under different circumstances. I frankly, though, all season long he was a clearly better and more polished offensive player than Jaylen Brown, but Brown is young and basically shoots the ball nearly every time he touches it while Hayward was unselfish to a fault and extremely team oriented. I think Hayward will clearly be a better player than Brown is this upcoming season at that.

MJ with another masterstroke:roll:

I'm convinced (as I think we all are) that without the minds of Phil Jackson and Jerry Krause guiding him, Michael Jordan would've been a failure in the NBA.

He lacks basic common sense when it comes to basketball.

As a player it was to take every shot and trust no one.
As a GM it's dumpster fire after dumpster fire.

I don't think Jordan actually understands NBA basketball outside of how he once could influence outcomes with steroids and spee... I mean his athleticism and determination.

No doubt he would be the worst coach. Who disagrees with that? No one.

I think their thought process goes like this. No one's gonna come to Charlotte, we gotta overpay for someone decent but still able to develop our young talent. Then use him as expirer at his last year. I think Hayward fits the bill.

Looks like MJ will never reconcile with Barkley. 100% sure that Barkley is going to continue making fun of MJ for being a lousy owner/GM.
