As a Raptors fan, I just want to warn you all. Gasol was the most frustrating player to watch on the Raptors squad.

Hes slow, his defense is really just stsnding still with hands up, and hes got 0 offense.

We tried to warn you all of Danny Green but no one believed how bad he was. Hopefully you listen now and dont get your hopes up with Gasol. He was HORRIBLE.

He is backup providing 15mpg. He will be fine for limited minutes.

They will run 0 plays for him offensively. They probably expect nothing from him aside from an occasional 3 and a nice pass on that end.
As for his defense, whatever he's doing - whether it's "standing still with his hands up" or putting his dick between his legs and walking around like a chicken, it's working. His defensive box plus/minus, defensive rating and defensive win shares all three look VERY solid.

Raptors stopped trying to run plays for him as well.. but he was always wide open at the 3 so he took em.. and missed 90% of the time. I hated watching him play.

I give it a month into the season b4 you come on here and bltch about Gasol.

Toronto just signed Aaron Baynes. Definitely an upgrade over Gasol.

Everyone is always labeled 'washed up' until they play next to LeHung. Then suddenly they have a thicc comeback year and wind up with a fat contract somewhere.

Funny how that works...

Funny how people comment without watching a single Raptors game.

I know you're mad, but do you have to post falsehoods?
He missed .615 of his 3s. Which means he hit .385, and that is more than good for a center.
Also, don't compare this pickup with Danny Green. After Anthony Davis, Green was the other big pickup for the Lakers last offseason, whereas Gasol is a distant third, side pickup after the big additions of Harrell and Schroder. Green was expected to flourish next to LeBron. Nobody has those expectations for Gasol. They got Marc for certain matchups in the playoffs and not much more than that. And besides, the Lakers won a chip with Danny Green. I'm sure they'll be satisfied with the same result with Gasol.

Thats the thing about these Lehaters, man... always with they third eye closed, cant never see the forest for the trees.

Not sayin it’s wrong to take a good long look at that tree trunk. But they gotta see the bigger picture of how he uses it to get the most out of his teammates.

These dudes just never learn tho

If you read any of my posts, why would I be mad about Gasol leaving Toronto? I've been hoping for this all year long.

All the best! Hopefully you wont be as frustrated as I was watching his bum ass slowly move around the floor.

Lebrons load just got that much heavier

Only a miracle

I know. If Lebron somehow drags this useless fat POS to the finals it'd be nothing short of a miracle.

After playing with Lebron now many think Mcgee and Dwight are allstars or something lol. They dont watch Laker ball but act like they know something about the players. Youtube highlights are what it is, highlights only.

Mcgee averaged 13min per game vs Portland, 6min per vs Houston, 8min vs Denver, 0 vs Miami.

Dwight averaged 19min per game vs Portland, 3min per vs Houston, 20min vs Denver, 12min vs Miami(didnt start and only played 1min in game 6).

Mcgee started the whole time in the regular season but came playoffs, nowhere to be found. Dwight was so important that they LA started Caruso instead of Howard.

Many of you dont watch the game and go by youtube highlights.

If Gasol is ASS, then what are these two?

I'm sure that I will be frustrated if they put him to guard some quick, athletic C/PF. If they give him around 20 minutes per game against Jokic/Embiid/Nurkic/Lopez should they face them in the series, I'm sure he'll be serviceable.

No no no silly.

Your team had no chance to win the title. He took the year off.

He'll be very effective on the Lakers.

Remember, they know Gasol very well - they know him personally - LeBron and Gasol talk - so they know exactly who they've selected.

I thought Danny Green was great, btw.

I liked Javale and thought he gave us good minutes more often than not when he was on the floor, but he had zero impact in the playoffs. Surely Gasol will provide more than Javale did in the bubble. Rondo, Dwight, and now Javale... all my boys gone. :(

Can't stand Wes Matthews, Harrell or Shroeder either. And ****ING Kuzma is still a Laker. Fck this team. :lol

Minus guarding embiid, which was the only thing he was good at, he was ass the year they won a championship as well.

Gasol is clear upgrade to McGhee not even close. Better at everything except blocking shots but still better defender , better shooter ( not close), better passer( not close), as good or better rebounder and way better IQ( one of smartest bigs in league) next to Lebron and AD playing 15-20 most nights starting gms he will be good. The way u can use him on pick and pops Lebron will spoon feed him for 3-4 wide open jumpers a gm.. then he can rest at 6 min mark of first and 3rd qtr while Harrell comes in gm..the combo of mixing Lebron, AD, gasol and Harrell in pick and rolls along with Schroeder is going to be deadly.

3-4 wide open jumpers that he will miss.

People keep on saying hes a smart defender because he won a defensive player of the year award.. but he was a lot quicker in Memphis. In toronto he was in foul trouble a lot because he was slow to get to his spots. He also never actually jumps to defend a shot or layup. He literally just stands there.

The Per and other metrics say otherwise also as a 38% 3 point shooter that’s tied for best on Lakers team.

What’s wrong with Wes? You’ll like Schroeder and Harrell. Or at least you’ll like Harrell. Dude can play.

I feel you on Kuzma he was quite easily the worst player in the entire playoffs if you ask me. His defense is unfathomably bad.

I just hate Wes' dumb bow & arrow celebration when he hits a 3. :lol Also think his defense is overrated but I guess he's not that bad. From what I've seen, Schroeder is incredibly low bball IQ and a chucker. Not the ideal replacement for Rondo.

I can see myself liking Harrell, though his playoff performance in the bubble is a bit concerning. He seems like the type to use that as motivation to come to the Lakers prepared & ready to redeem himself though, so hopefully he'll grow on me like Dwight and KCP did.

Gasol matchup vs Embiid is about even with Gasol having fewer turnovers but yet Gasol is @SS lol.

As for Gasol going up against Jokic, first mactchuo Gasol was injured. Second matchup was last game of the regular season in the bubble where both guys didnt play much inorder to get rest for the playoffs.

I wanted Dwight, KCP back the most and was hoping he backs out of the sixers agreement. Then yesterday we landed Gasol and read somewhere that Dwight wanted more playing time but LA wanted his roll to be the same so decided to leave instead. Rumors about coming back to LA and waiting for management to run it by ownership or whatever might not be true. I think he found out LA was trying, if not getting Harrel so he went on with plan 2. Getting paid less to join Phili, being away from his LA Starks gf in LA?

It was nice to have Dwight & Javale with us, but in the playoffs it was pretty much impossible to play McGee & Dwight at times, Dwight was big for us in the Denver series, Javale was pretty much ass the entire postseason. We all know Gasol is past his prime, but I'd much rather have him over Javale.

11-23-2020, 10:20 PM
The idea is to give AD enough rest throughout the reg season and reduce the wear and tear of getting beat up inside playing the 5. He doesn't like playing Center...

Thats why Dho and Javale was perfect for the Lakers. Marc is not the same rebounder or paint defender. He can shoot and pass tho so thats a plus but you don't really need that with AD and Bron.
